Everybody wants happy, healthy, prosperous and successful life believers inclusive. As such, a large chunk of our prayer time is spent asking for things that make life comfortable. There is nothing bad in that. Our God promised in the Scriptures to answer our prayers and meet our every need (Matthew 7:7,8; Philippians 4:19). However, there are times when things do not go the way we expect. A saved, right-living, devoted and prayerful believer may suffer lack, encounter delays, be sick, be persecuted, in fact be like frustrated. It may appear that God has abandoned him/her. The Scriptures also makes provision for such periods (Exodus 1:12; Job 2:10; Psalms 34:15; Proverbs 24:10; John 16:33; James 1:2,3; 1st Peter 1:2,3; 4:12-16). This is called trials of faith. It is at this point that we know who is a true Christian. Anybody can profess to love God when all seems rosy but our attitude and decision when things are rough shows our true colour.
The suffering though should not be long (Psalms 30:5; 1st Peter 5:10). Thus depends on the nature of the trial, the plan of God as well as rhe attitude of the suffering believer. May you and I pass the test in Jesus' name, Amen.
