The Grenfell Tower Fire The images reminded me of similar (90% similarity) to previous disasters I had seen on TV involving high rise buildings and fires. The fire was a hot blaze on the exterior of the building which fanned into the interiors of the building through windows and balcony, causing the thick black smoke. In January 2016, there was a similar fire at Downtown Address Fire, Dubai, another high rise that the fire was exactly like Grenfell Tower. Listening to CNN's interview of the Fire Fighters, they repeated a statement I heard from a 2015 fire in Australia "All 24 floors of Grenfell Tower in North Kensington were quickly engulfed, trapping residents and reportedly forcing some to jump to escape what London's fire chief called an "unprecedented" blaze. Australian Dockland Towers Fire - 2015: A Post Investigate Report Excerpts "The cause of the $5 million blaze was an un-extinguished cigarette on the eighth-floor balcony, but the report found that once the cladding caught fire it took less than 11 minutes for the blaze to spread up the side of the apartment complex to the 21st floor. The MFB report said the burn pattern of the blaze was unusual and “not a scenario commonly encountered” by crews attending high-rise fires. “Rapid vertical fire spread up the building appeared to be directly associated with the external facade of the building, rather than associated with the internal parts or extensive fuel loads stored on many of the balconies,” it says. Nigerian (majorly Lagos) buildings are cloaked in "millions of square metres" of cladding, and I know we procure our products from China, with extremely weak regulators. Are all the building with various Alubond and Alcobond and Cladding ticking infernos waiting to happen.
