There is tribalism among all Nigerian ethnic groups. In terms of ranking Yoruba are extreme practitioners of tribalism and below them the northern people. But there is a huge gap with the northerners on the scale. As they say, on tribalism the North is still learning work compared to the Yoruba. My sister retired from a famous federal organization in the South West (name withheld). Words won't be enough to explain the experience she went through as a result of tribalism. She gave a testimony of her triumph in opposition. This is a place she came more qualified than other employees in her profession. The system refused to place her in the correct position on the carrier ladder initially. She eventually got it after a tortious process. One thing that really helped and put her ahead of the intrigue was her flawless Yoruba which no one in the office knew about to this day.

I really don't enjoy discussing these issues. My opinion was prompted by the original post. I prefer we acquire some degree of emotional intelligence. I have come across many posts describing Igbo as tribalisitic. I am mature enough to understand that it's easy to accuse others and blame them for faults that even reside more within us. No Igbo will accept there is tribalism in their fold. Same for Yoruba and Hausa. So why can't we recognize that we are all correct and try to understand the problem might be with different values which we must all respect.
