We are not talking about "recognized languages by constitution" but addressing the nation in hausa. It has never happened in history.

English is the official language but the constitution also recognises three other major languages so I don't see the big deal. A very large percentage of Nigerians don't actually understand the English language either so all this hullabaloo can be simply resolved by the Ministry of Information translating the speech into all languages including English and disseminating it which is how it is supposed to be even when the speech is given in English for the benefit of those Nigerians who don't understand it.

This is just another case of much ado about nothing. There is a reason why Languages was made compulsory in our education curriculum.

My stand is my stand. If the Ministry of Information simply translates what he said, I am satisfied. English is our official language no doubt, but Hausa is also a constitutional language. You people are screaming like it is an impeachable offense. If it is then write your senator to commence the impeachment process otherwise you are just wailing.
