Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has approved the appointment of Dr Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo, as the Administrator of the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN).

A statement on Friday by the Director of
Communications in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHoCSF), Haruna Imrana, noted that the appointment which took effect from 20th June 2017 is for a single five-year term.

He said a letter conveying the appointment signed by the HoCSF, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, said the appointment was a testimony of the confidence
and trust reposed in Obatoyinbo by the Acting President.

Meanwhile, Oyo-Ita noted that training of Federal public servants will no longer be a welfare package used to douse labour tensions. She said this on Friday in Abuja while inaugurating the Departmental Training Officers (DTOs) of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the
Federal Government

Mohammed Manga, in a statement quoted her as saying that training and retraining of federal workers is essential to the development of the nation and that the inauguration was part of efforts to achieve the recently signed Executive Orders by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo aimed at
easing business and fast tracking budget
submissions.

“In those days Directors of Administration and personnel sit and defend their training budget and work plan and that kept the MDAs focused.

This is what we are bringing back now. If we are not properly trained we cannot transfer any form of excellence into the business of the country,” she said. Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Career
Management Office in the OHoCSF, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, said that training must stop being a welfare package.

She said the training of DTOs would bring the desired change and that participants would serve as change agents..
