HOME > LOCAL > YAHAYA BELLO : GOV SAYS KOGI WILL SOON CATCH UP WITH LAGOS STATE

The Kogi state Governor made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Friday.

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi says that his administration is working hard to ensure rapid development of the state.
The governor said that with ongoing efforts to take the state to an enviable height, it would soon catch up with Lagos State.

Bello made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Friday.

“Kogi state is moving, it has woken up from its slumber and it’s on the verge of taking off to fly.

“We are not just walking or running, we are about to fly, Kogi is really working and it’s moving.

“As an ambassador of the youth, am providing good leadership in Kogi and in no distant time, we are going to see that Kogi will catch up with Lagos by the grace of God,’’ he said.

He maintained that there was no political crisis in the state, contrary to speculations in some quarters, adding that the state was very stable.

The governor, however, said that he was not behind the travails of Senator Dino Melaye, the embattled lawmaker representing Kogi West in the Senate.

Members of the Senator`s constituency had recently asked for his recall, citing instances of misconduct which they said was unbecoming of a lawmaker.

“Am not behind his problems, he should know who is behind his problems,’’ Bello said.

Speaking on the present agitation from different parts of the country calling for restructuring of the country, Bello advised youths to be patient with the Federal Government.

He also urged youths in the country to believe in their ability, stressing that all they needed was a good leadership which according to him, President Mohamadu Buhari was already offering.

He called on Nigerians to continue to support the Federal Government while they remained law abiding citizens.

Clowns everywhere.

Kogi should be catching up with Benue, Osun and Kwara.

Apart from Kano and Kaduna, other northern states are in same league with Kogi

The governor should be arrested for "False Alarm". What a joke. These are things that Rivers, Anambra, Ogun and Kano should be saying. Kogi that is at the bottom of the log as far ad development is concerned. Their leaders are one of the worst in the country and have left the state impoverished to the level of pity. Just take a trip to their capital city and see what i'm talking about.

Yeah, Kogi will soon catch up with lagos state.

You've started the foolish race already by commissioning "fairly used" transformer which happens to be your greatest achievement now and forever.

Just like your drunkard neighbour and friend from Benue state who empowered the youths of the state with wheelbarrow, I wasn't expecting anything reasonable coming from you.

Dino Melaye was right about this bloody mistake called Yahaya Bello.

How did this man came into existence.huh In a sane country this man should be locked up in a zoo and the keys thrown under the river, but here he is governing a whole state and spewing trash with impunity. What an insult to humanity!

It would take a long time for that to happen... if it ever happens.

I am tired of repeating myself. sad Kogi state needs urgent deliverance and divine intervention. angry I mean how can just one state be plagued with clueless leaders, one after the other? shocked From Abubakar Audu to Yahaya Bello, nothing constructive can be written about their tenure. Does Bello think that he is talking to schoolkids? What has he put in place to make Kogi better? How does he intend to make it look like Abeokuta, not to talk of Lagos? Little Nassarawa is still ahead of Kogi, in quite a few areas. undecided

Even their senators are no better. sad Smart Adeyemi of Kogi West was a condescending loudmouth, but Dino Melaye is ten times worse. He is a clueless narcissistic joker with megalomaniac tastes. Even the senator from Kogi Central like Ahmed Ogembe and Isaac Alfa from Kogi East, have nothing to show for their sojourn in the Red Chamber.

God, who will save Kogi from its present dilemma? shocked

The problem is not the leaders, it's the people that have to change their orientation and reasoning about life. When parents pass their backward belief to their kids, u think u'll expect any changes?. The youths should consult with their brothers abroad to give them ideas on how to move their state forward. Kogi state is so blessed but this issue of running to Abuja to collect oil money is not helping anyone

The problem is both the leaders, and the people. angry Kogi has many well seasoned technocrats, and fully qualified professionals, at home and abroad. But the problem is that those who can take the state out of its backwardness, hardly ever come out to contest. And the few times, 1 or 2 of them tried to contest in the past nobody voted for them, or they were schemed out by the corrupt political machinery, in the state. sad

Look at Lagos for example. Tinubu, is the strongman of Lagos state politics. wink He's the power behind the throne, who installed Fashola and Ambode as governors, after his tenure. He picked people who could perform and who executed the right programmes for the state! shocked Why can't Kogi take a leaf from Lagos, and try to vote in performers, instead of loudmouthed, visionless clowns?

It's good to dream big!
..but becomes a nightmare if not followed with appropriate action.

I agree with you. It pains me a lot how corrupt politicians runs Kogi state. That state is so blessed. If their godfathers have the state in mind and install productive leaders I won't vex. It's high time the people of kogi state should do massive enlightenment and vote for individuals with progressive minds not voting for parties with decorated thugs as candidates. Lagos and Anambra states are good examples of how a state should be run with productive leaders. Though Tinubu ways make not be too OK but he laid the foundation for Lagos development. I believe when the people of Kogi are ready for serious work they will get up
