Although social media have done us many good, many people have also failed to realized that some bad came with them. Hence, they appear to be naive when it comes to issues that have to do with cyber security. I want to ask my fellow Nairalanders, how much of your personal in formation do you reveal to the world and how much do you keep to yourself? If almost everything is your answer, then i pray that your fate will not end up like that of this Floridan woman that posted a video narrating how she could not afford $99 initially to start a business, but now makes multi six figures in dollars. The story i read has it that some hours after posting the video on Facebook, she was visited by a masked gunman at 2:00am on Saturday July 1, 2017. That was the end of her testimony! She is no longer here to enjoy her six figures revenue, neither is she here to tell us about her future achievements. So sad!!! Please do yourself a favour and filter the information you make available on social media...keep the rest in your diary. That way, you will live long enough to tell the world more stories. Peace!

Really a pity it happened in western world.
ln Africa it is a "No" for me.
People should learn to keep their success and achievement secret.
For the ones that feels Nothing will happen,please continue though am more concerned about the people you will leave in Agony.

The problem here is, people aren't happy to know you're doing better than them, so it's best to keep details of your success to yourself. Something like "i make enough now" would have been better than telling everyone you make 6 figures. Wisdom is key!

My idea you nailed it, less is better. It is not only in Africa that such things happen, actually there's not any perfectly safe society anywhere.Many times my phones and a laptop have been stolen in the US and when i share with people in Nigeria, they tend to be surprised that such could happen here. America still has poor, people, homeless people, criminals, etc. like us. They only happen to have less of them and much better security system.

Yes ooo. When you post your joy, such people will be the first to hit the like or wow button and go ahead to comment how excited they are on your behalf, just to mask their bitterness. The next thing you will hear is one sad tale. everything calls for wisdom, filter before you post.

My dear Everywhere is unsafe.
Africa is worse.You are only talking about shop lifting and theft generally.
l am looking beyond these.Black power invocation is still in high demand in Africa.

And with the way things are going,i'am afraid the world will soon come to and end anytime soon,soon I repeat.
