The Azura-Edo IPP is a 450MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine, power project which is constructed close to Benin City, Edo State. The aim is to provide electricity to people living in the State at affordable rates.

The project which is financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) is said to be worth $1B. Part of it, which is about $868m, was gotten through equity contributions. It is part of a scheme called the Energy Business Plan (EBP).
The project has not been completed and was delayed for 1 year due to government bureaucracy.

This is the kind of news my ears crave for especially from state governments. I just wish this project will see the light of the day...

Gburugburu, I think we also need a grand project like this in Enugu. We already have the mineral which will power the plant. Although fortnight ago I heard you signing an MoU with a foreign firm to establish such, I just hope that's not part of the propaganda...

How can you question the Edo state government's calculations ?

That's the first question that comes to their mind when they read your post

But when they remember Godwin Obaseki belongs to APC , they start screaming it's a Biafraudian land and power plant is their birthright

grin grin grin grin grin Dilemma

Dude, you are talking crap. This is not a state government project. It's 100% private. And it's been under construction for some years. The Governor has been in power for just a few months.

However, the project is made very interesting by the fact that the governor himself actually put together this project long before he became governor. His firm, Afrinvest is the key financiial engineer for the project.

The beauty about the project is that that whole axis is a gas hub with connecting gas infrastructure scattered Accross the area.

The plan is to have an industrial hub around the facility where industries would have access to 24 hrs electricity supply. Many industries have already signed up. Dangote has a fertilizer plant coming up there. The other great benefit is that a seaport is already in the works for that axis.

The plan is huge and I like that it is very quite!
