I beg to differ @dayus12.
The Skoda brand is a world renowned, and the Octavia has a string of awards and accolades to its credit. It's basically a VW Jetta with more room, a better build quality and at a discounted price when compared with the VW!
The secret to keeping the Skoda & VW (as with other German cars) is keeping to a strict maintenance schedule. Mess with it and you mess up the car.
Most Skoda Octavia owners who've kept their car from new are very reluctant to put it up for sale, and so I entirely agree with Mrtesso!
The car is just a victim of the Nigerian Syndrome. ..If it's not a Toyota (or any other Jap car), then it's crap!
.. Skoda all the way!
Okay oooo...

Do you market for them? The car is really a scrap. The only good part is that it can be very beautiful outside but engine and other components can make the buyer cry...

I manage 3 of the cars in our office and you can't imagine what we are experiencing. The skoda workshop couldn't even diagnose properly.

We bought the cars new o
I don't market for Skoda™ or Stallion Motors. I'll gladly advertise for Skoda™ if I have my way.

Firstly, they do not qualify as scrap. The Octavia has one of the most durable body panels which contributes to the safety of the occupants and is only comparable to Volvo and other German models. You rarely feel the impact of an accident and the body may only end up with a dent but hardly ever mangled, at least for the accidents I've witnessed. The word scrap doesn't describe the car at all.

Oroz sold a Skoda Octavia that had a right fender impact sufficient to prompt deployment of the airbags. Please take a look at the car and and tell me what u think. The fender was not replaced. Here's the link : https://www.nairaland.com/3628641/2009-scoda-Octavia-sale-portharcourt.

Engine is usually a simple 1.6 or 1.8 Tsi water cooled turbo engine. There's the TDI Diesel engine variant too. I don't know much bout the Diesel engines. I do know that Nestoil has a fleet of Skoda Octavia cars that work daily. So does Julius Berger. Your company has 3? I'm inclined to think it's not Octavia that has the problem.

Have heard you bros....There's no point arguing about it. Argument won't refund the loss(cost) incurred

Ure very correct my brother. A friend in Lagos owns an Octavia and got a Superb dis April. U seldom see the car listed for sale or dumped at a mechanic garage. Usually if the car isn't handled by a qualified tech, the car ends up screwed up. It just doesn't have as much power as the Jetta, but it's a quiet lovely ride albeit. The Stallion motors Auto service centre usually bills Nigerians overmuch for repairs. But some of their trained mechs can do the job for less cost if u know how to get to them.

I really am sorry. But It's not an argument. Im sure under better circumstances, the cars would serve better. Is ur company willing to sell?

FYI and for the record:
1) Skoda Octavia is not crap!
2)It's actually less complicated than MB if you can "afford" an adequate maintenance schedule.
3)No one should run away from the Skoda brand or the Octavia.

i)What model year of Skoda Octavia did u buy?
ii)Did u buy it new or used?

You're actually the 3rd person i'm reading such a complaint from. The other two are grossly poor vehicle handlers and lack even the basic maintenance ability.

I know persons who've driven their Skoda Octavia cars from 2007 till date with no desire to relinquish the vehicles. Others have used and sold theirs and the buyers still cruising em without isSHOES. The Skoda Superb is even more a delight to own. But that's a discussion for another thread.

AutojoshNG thanks for the heads up, plus including some of your insightful threads. You're one in 6million. cheesy
My octavia was a 2008 model, and am very good with vehicle maintenance. The major problem of that car is the gear switch which in less than 4 weeks can pack up the gear completely. Another one is the engine rotation system, once the compressor is bad the whole rotation system becomes stiff.

Hello Autojosh, I need your expertise advice.
I recently acquired a 1.6 engine Skoda Octavia from a friend which he bought new. its currently at 58000 km. its a high performance car i must confess. How best can i enjoy the this car in addition to the visiting the Skoda Workshop. Also, are there basic things i can take care of on my own to keep the car in a good shape at all times?
Just usual and regular stuffs: Don't miss the routine maintenance, make sure you use the recommended engine oil code, keep the inside and outside squeaky clean, use a car cover if you are parking it for a while, use radiator coolant etc.

The best ways to take care of the car yourself are washing/cleaning, monitoring oil/coolant level, ensuring adequate tyre pressure and most especially, reading and understanding the car manual. Some people also handle changing of the light bulbs, wiper blades, air filter and much more.
