With our new stadium project coming up, we have to be extremely meticulous in our planning and decision making.
Just as a point of correction. FFP rules actually exclude the injection of cash by way of infrastructural contribution to a club from club owners. This means that Roman can spend £1bn on a Chelsea Stadium without FFP consequences.

So technically we don't have to be cautious with signings as it has no bearings on stadium plans. Our Financial results over the past few years suggest that we cannot finance a stadium from pure club earnings anyway, so all points to the fact that Roman will be financing this himself.

Fine. So at this point, who do you think will be the best fit for us? If you're rejecting Costa, who should we go for?

I understand that you are trying to balance all sides but as most have stated, I have to agree. Once we compromise on the level of ethical and professional responsibility expected from players, there's no knowing how bad it could get.

For the mere fact that begging Costa might undermine Conte's authority, I will say a big no.

As I have said before, we don't need a 30-goal striker to be competitive. We just need a seriously fluid and prolific forward line. And there are options. As a stop gap, I will go with Llorente. With the right method of play, Llorente will guarantee at least 17 goals. He might be able to do well over 20. I will go with Ihenacho and Batman as backups.

We also need other 2 players in the forward line to be prolific enough to contribute at least 15 goals. For this, I will go for the Lorenzo Insigne, Keita Balde.

I suspect that we will be leaning towards a 3-5-2 next season. Going by our total goals of 85 last season, we just need our forward 5 players to be at 17-goal-a-season contributors and we are well on our mark to achieving the 85-goal mark and putting ourselves in prime position for retaining the league, if we can maintain solidity at the back like last season.

It doesn't have to be done with Costa.

Well as I have said before, only time will tell. All we can do is just speculate and hope that there is a very bright light at the end of this long zigzag dark tunnel.

I was in support of Nateevs post till I read Kelechi and Iheanacho should play 2nd fiddle to Llorente?

Llorente ahead of Kelechi and Batman?

Lemme come and be going.

Let's not lose sight of the overall premise. It was a post to highlight the options we have post-Costa. I wasn't strictly talking about who should play second fiddle to whom, even though I did mention them as back-ups. I only meant to state that there are options and inexpensive ones at that. Let's say I was thinking "options" but typed "backup"

Please pardon my footballing transgressions. grin grin grin

Rudiger having medicals is not in doubt. The question we Chelsea fans are asking is "how long will it take to complete his medicals ? "

He made the Statement when he was a Kid, he thought playing in England is the peak of Success. But as a grown Man...... he has seen the Picture clearly!

Now..... he understands United is bigger than Chelsea even in England as its evident in his Choice [of Club] for the next Season, also the Club has bigger value outside England than Chelsea.

Eric is a gold in the CM position, but then, there isn't any need discussing Spurs players while Levy is still Chairman.

They are working toward their new ground, and are holding unto their prized assets for the time being.
