The Indigenous People of Biafra has said it had uncovered a plot, allegedly masterminded by the Department of State Services , to turn Christians against its leader , Mazi Nnamdi Kanu .
IPOB spokesman , Comrade Emma Powerful, who made the claim in a statement , said the plot involved the portrayal of Kanu as ‘messiah ’, ‘saviour ’ and in some instances, as Jesus Christ , on various social media platforms .
He also alleged that the security agency had ‘planted some enemies ’ within the pro- Biafra group to facilitate the execution of the plot .
According to him, the alleged plot was hatched after the IPOB leader reportedly declared that there would be no election in Anambra State, where gubernatorial elections have been scheduled to hold in November, unless the Federal Government accede to demands for a referendum in the South -East. Powerful, who claimed that the DSS was collaborating with unnamed politicians in the alleged plot, said, “We , the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu , have observed with great dismay the plan by the DSS and some politicians to cause misunderstanding and confusion between the IPOB leader and Christians in Igbo land.
“ Since the announcement of the election boycott in Anambra State , the Federal Government and its agent, the DSS, has mapped out strategies to destroy and tarnish the image of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB in general.
“ Those using his name as saviour , messiah and Jesus are misinformed because he never asked them to do so . “ Nnamdi Kanu has said he should not be compared with God Almighty and nobody can prove that he wants people to compare him with Jesus Christ – it is dangerous comparing him with God Almighty or Jesus Christ . “ It is the work of enemies planted within us by DSS and some politicians . “ Those involved in this ridiculous defamation of character will fail. “ Nnamdi Kanu has never in his life challenged the authority of God Almighty who created Heaven and earth or Jesus Christ , the son of God. “ It is very pathetic that the enemies of Biafra , IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will use his name on Facebook and other social media platforms to cause disunity with the Christian faith .”

Those people are wasting their time. Even before now, we were told to expect propaganda upon propaganda again Kanu, so it's not a big deal because people are wiser.

Lets face realities!! IPOB is very poor on strategy!! Every struggle has phases! On phase one which is publicity, there has been success for IPOB. Thats pretty easy to achieve these days. The next phase is Acceptability. And this is where IPOB needs to take more strategy classes.

*Having people visit Kanu and bow down before him is just a terrible strategy.
*Having Kanu visit shrines and carrying Jewish shoals around continually where majority of the population is staunchly Christian is just a terrible strategy.
*Having the crowd singing "Kanu is another messiah" is a poor strategy when you consider that Igbos are the most independent minded of all Africans.

Ojukwu was a better strategist devoid of emotions and et he lost.

There are a lot other phases and IPOB is already fumbling terribly. There is harmonization. There is execution. And a whole lot more complex strategic inputs and yet on simple acceptability there is already fumbling. I am afraid, this whole progress will tumble like a pack of cards in no time. And its annoying because the north would claim victory again this time without lifting a barrel.

But I watched the video in Umuahia where the whole crowd was singing "Kanu is another Messiah".
If the DSS is capable of making all IPOB members sing a song in Kanu's house, then IPOB is not ready at all and should not be trusted with the lives of people.

What do you mean that they bow down to Kanu ?, if Yorubas can lie on the ground greeting who is nobody in their land, how much more Nnamdi Kanu who is not only a leader of Ipob but a prince in his community ie : his father is a traditional ruler.
Still on the issue of knelling down.. in Igbo culture, there is tradition that mandated everybody to knell down while greeting someone from your maternal home which is popularly called "Nnaochie" whether the person is a kid or not, it's expected that you must bow before him( not worship).
Now, do you know the relationship between those people knelling before KANU ?. Something gave rise to that, they didn't just knell down for knelling sake.

On the issue of going to shrine, that place is an ancestral home for all Igbos. Google will help you on that because explaining it will take much of my time.

On the issue of Jews. Are you telling me that he should drop his Jewish belief because majority of his followers are Christians ?.
If they are not comfortable with his religion, why are they all throwing their weights behind him ?

The movement that should be transformed into a platform for building a true future is turned into a charade for the praise of one man. Its a failed strategy. And I am not happy at the attendant loss of opportunity that comes with this. IPOB needs an intellectual arm! Simple.

Forget about Yorubas. They have their own culture and that is their business. It shouldn't be copied. Now let me ask you, have you as an Igbo man ever bowed down to anybody? Its only God you bow to. Why are we now seeing pictures of people bowing to Nnamdi Kanu. The other day, women were laying wrappers on the floor for him to pass in a bid to create a replica of when Jesus was entering Jerusalem. Its terrible strategy. I have seen propaganda by IPOB sites stating Nnamdi Kanu healed a man with a handshake and I am wondering what this whole thing is turning into??
I know that Arochukwu is a historical source point but most Igbos don't have a connection to that. You probably have never visited and have no intention to ever visit. Nnamdi Kanu's visit would only have negative connotations for most Igbos who associate such places with evil.

I think I have answered your questions on the issue of knelling down, I bow down to my maternal uncles and people from my maternal home whenever I visit or whenever they visit..its not worship, it's Igbo culture, we are not imitating Yorubas and that culture must be upheld. Ask anybody who was born and grew up in igbo land, don't ask those born outside because most of them don't know while few of them do. it's all depends on how often they travel to their homes.

Then, on tha issue of throwing wrappers for him, they are all signs of honour.
I can remember one public function I attended last week, one woman in that community emerged victorious in one competition that was organized, when the woman was called to the stage to collect an award, her fellow women started throwing wrappers for her to match on while going to collect the award. It's a sign of respect and honour, she wasn't imitating Jesus Christ.

So,those people comparing Kanu with Jesus are only being mischievous like this thread says, they want to pull him down because they are intimidated by large number of his followers.
Nnamdi Kanu has stated it clearly that he has never and will never compare himself with Christ.
