No matter the circumstances, it is not justified to mock people when situations they do not have control over meets with them. Some of the comments here rakes of jealousy and hatred, and it is simply a poverty stricken mentality, don't we know that flooding happens in other parts of Lagos, so why are people so happy it is Lekki, VI or Island in general. Some of these are the failures of the government to see to it that certain things are put into consideration during town planning. I do not stay on the Island at the moment but anything God blesses me to conveniently afford such an environment, I will surely make that move, barring flooding or whatever

Is lekki the only place that experiences flood in Nigeria, Poverty stricken people are the ones making those comments.....comments out off hatred, jealousy and pure envy of those who can afford to live in such areas.

I don't think there's much anyone can do about lekki and VI floodings during heavy downpour because this area is below sea level. It's natural phenomenon.
It is not a natural phenomenon. Nigerians and their greed made it that way. Was it like that in the 80's and 90's. When you build without planning this is what you get.

Your comment makes no sense. So, because lekki is not the only place experiencing flood makes it normal abi? Smh. The things you guys have normalized yourself to is just amazing. Na wa for una.

Below sea level ke?
Those areas are a few metres above sea level and not below sea level.
But do you agree with me that it was sand filled?

The Landlord build houses in Lekki for tenants to rent but never stay their themselves.
I have couples of friends both at home and abroad that has properties in Lekki but prefer to stay in Mainland.
I even have a friend that stays in Fagba Area but has properties in Lekki.
Most of the Olosho that rent houses in Lekki are living fake life.

The real and most Landlord stays in the Mainland.

so the hype on Mercedes Benz products mean you should park your car and mock the owner whenever you spot a broken one by the roadside?

SMH
Whatever! But it is nice to see that lekki is not the paradise it is been branded to be. Mercedes or Honda...who cares?

Did't they know living in a coastal city comes with a price. .especially when you're living directly at the coast itself. . .
Living close to the ocean or having an exotic view of the beach doesn't cut it against global warming. The world is getting warmer and warmer and ice caps are melting.
Coastal cities like Lagos and Cape Town will eventually be covered by water wether they like it or not. . .at the most, they won't live to see it but it's inevitable.
Just google "Extinct cities buried under the sea". .
They weren't the first and surely won't be the last.
