According to Herald Sun, A perturbed mum, Leanne Thompson, has taken to sleeping on the streets alongside her homeless drug addict son in a desperate plea to get help.

She was so worried about her 25-year-old son, Dan’s plight that she bought a sleeping bag and blanket to camp alongside him,

She makes the frequent trip from her home city of Brisbane, Australia, to Melbourne, where Dan sleeps on the streets, to watch over him and make sure he is safe.

He enjoyed a privileged upbringing, attending private school and enjoying foreign holidays each year, the Herald Sun reports.

But an addiction to synthetic cannabis turned his life upside down and he now sleeps on the streets.

Authorities in Melbourne say he has not responded to their attempts to help him, but his mum wants officials to have more powers to take addicts off the street and into rehab against their will.

The distraught mum told the 3AW Neil Mitchell programme:

“I drove down there, took a sleeping bag and blankets and some great big garbage bags to put underneath me to sit onI’m at a point where I’m just desperate to get some help for him.”
Dan’s refusal to accept help has drawn criticism from other homeless people.

One rough sleeper, Darren, told Australia’s Nine News:

“I’ve been trying to get accommodation and I can’t. This person got everything he wants, doesn’t want it.

this is what happens when you've too much money at your disposal. he's a rich man who has everything he needs to turn his life around but chooses not to. plenty of pple out there who need this sorta help but can't find. this one gets no sympathy from me.

Mothers- Their love, sacrifice, dedication and selflessness can't be compared to anything.

Something happened yesterday, with the way my mum handled it, I was really moved.

Honestly for the first time in my life I truly appreciated/admired her.

Hmmmm...how sad. Sometimes, having too much comfort is a curse. This dude is still privileged even while embracing destitution. Lucky him, he's got someone who loves him to bits.

One of the worse things that can happen to anyone is drug addiction. One's life spirals out of control right in front of their eyes.

Don't do drugs. It might feel cool at the beginning but it definitely never ends well.

when you decide to spear the child from the rod this is what it usually result to.....this is not love..........she can't still tell the grown man the truth........since he still recieve his mother's support then he thinks he is on the right path.
