Immediately K.C woke up, he reached for his phone and started dialing the number again.

He had dialled the number countless number of times until he drifted off to sleep, the previous night.

''The number you are trying to call is not available at the moment, please try again later'' he heard the voice again and he hissed, same thing he has been hearing since the the first time he tried.

His phone beeped, signalling that he has received a message, he hurriedly checked, thinking the text was from a well-wisher only for him to find the same text but from another number ''Dami is my woman, stay away from her''

Instantly he dialed the number, It rang for a while but he got no answer, he tried again only to realize that the phone has been switched off.

''what sort of nonsense is this?'' he asked, frowning ''Show yourself, you idiot'' he shouted as if the person behind the text was somewhere, close to him.

''Not again'' he yelled, it just occured to him that it's sunday and he's supposed to go to church, in other to please Dami.

He hurried off to the bathroom, with his mind already set on the church he would attend, he had seen it the previous day when he had gone for a little stroll after he returned home.


He soon finished preparing and came out of his apartment, looking handsome as usual in his T-shirt and a black trouser, he slipped on his favourite pair of sandals and walked off.

He didn't know why but he felt like dressing casually and walking to the church, he didn't want any unnecessary attention or maybe--because he would be able to leave easily incase things didn't go his way.

''Nathaniel, where were you last night'' his dad asked as soon as Nate came out for his breakfast.

''Out'' he replied and sat down without looking his dad's way.

''Where exactly is out?''

''Dad, good morning sir, welcome back from your trip and please I came here to eat'' he replied in a gently but inwardly he was boiling with rage.

He sighed, Who questions a 30-year old man like this?

His stomach rumbled, the previous day, he had only managed to take a cup of tea before leaving for the burial and since then he has had nothing to eat.

Breakfast soon arrived and he devoured the perfectly made egg, fried plantain and tea

''Nathaniel'' his dad called as soon as Nate was about leaving the dinning room.

His mum has since left for church and he wondered what his dad was still doing at home ''Dad, I have to be somewhere now''

ignoring the rude tone of his voice, his dad asked him to turn around.

He spun around and faced his dad, who had his hand in the pocket of his pyjamas.

''Dad, I'm running late''

''Happy Birthday son'' his dad said and took his hand out of his pocket and along with it, came a bunch of car keys.

Nate gasped in suprise

''Da...

''The two cars parked beside the house are yours'' his dad said and smiled at him.

''Thanks dad, I don't even know what to say, thanks alot dad'' he muttered and gave his dad a light hug.

''you're welcome son, make sure to use them properly and ...''

Nate was far from listening, he was already making plans concerning the cars, because he couldn't possibly use five cars at a time.

Ken walked into Wuse specialist hospital with uncertainty, he didn't know if he should be there or not, but nevertheless, he had come and he couldn't turn back.

''Nurse, where is room 54?'' he asked a busty nurse who was busy chewing gums like she was in a strip club.

''Room 54? Who are you to the patient''

''I'm her friend'' he replied indifferently.

''what kind of friend'' the nurse asked.

''Who the hell are you? Why are you interrogating me?'' he retorted.

''It was just a simple question'' the nurse defended.

''simple question my foot'' he said and eyed her.

''Sorry'' she murmured.

''Just tell me where the room is, if you still like you job'' he threatened in a cool voice.

''Go that way'' the nurse replied, pointing behind her.

''thanks'' he murmured and walked away.


''Ken!'' Kath called out as soon as he walked in, he had located the room without any stress, there weren't much rooms there anyway.

''Kath, how are you doing? He asked smiling, the least he could do was to come visit her, afterall they once shared a bed and even an office desk.

''I never thought I would see you here'' she said to him, wearily.

''I'm here now'' he answered and walked over to her, her face was badly affected, though she still had the bandages on, but from the little skin he could see, he knew that her face would never go back to the way it was, no matter how hard the doctors tries.

''I regret everything Ken, Will Vicky ever forgive me?'' she asked.

He sat down and took her hand in his ''Kath, recover first'' he said to her, he didn't want to be the bearer of bad news.

''I regret everything'' she replied, tearily.

''Kath''

The door creaked open and he turned, only to find Vicky and Queen standing behind him and the look of Vicky's face was not friendly at all.

''Vicky, wait I can explain'' Ken called after Vicky who was walking as fast as her legs could carry her.

''Tell that to the dogs'' she replied.

It didn't take long before he caught up with her, afterall, a seven-month pregnant woman, can't possibly outrun an able bodied man.

''Vicky'' he said blocking her path, she pushed him away with all the strength she could muster and walked on.

''Ken, you're really a monster, so the affair continued?'' Queen asked him, angrily.

''Queen, it's not what you think''

''Tell that your wife'' she replied and walked away.

He looked around him and all eyes were on them, some had that curious look on their faces, while some were smiling like it's a comedy show, he hissed and ran after his wife, he had no idea why people would rejoice over another human's misfortune.

''Sweetheart'' he called, grabbing her arms from behind.

She turned and pointed a finger towards him ''Ken, If you don't get that filthy hand off me this minute, I will scream and you won't like what I will tell people, just pray you don't get lynched''

Ken instantly withdrew his hand.

''Sweetheart, it's not really what you saw''

''Oh! Ken'' her voice dropped to a whisper ''so from committing adultery, you've now graduated to calling me a blind woman?'' she asked and walked away.

''please give me a chance to explain things to you''

''Go inside and explain it to your your new wife, Kath, she's waiting for you'' Vicky replied, entering the taxi that Queen already flag down.

He tried to stop her by holding her hand but she gave him a hard bite.

Once inside, she said to him ''Ken, go and mark this date on your calender, mark it as the day I wanted to forgive you and your darling Kath, but I got lucky and saw the kind of man you really are, a man who can't do without Katherine'' she said smiling, a smile that didn't reach her eyes.

''Sweetheart, I said it's not what you think'' he yelled, once more attracting people's attention to them.

''Ken, see you in court, I've had enough of this rubbish, I wasn't born to die for you''

''In court?, Vicky you are taking this too far, please, I only came to visit her''

''Ken, I've said my own and I know what I saw, I'm not blind neither am I crazy''

''Vicky, I'm saying the truth'' He said and Knelt down.

''Ken, my lawyer will contact your lawyer, bye'' she said and waved at him before telling the driver to go.

Ken got up from the floor with tears in his eyes, he didn't need a soothsayer to tell him that Vicky meant every single word she said, the idea of asking for help crept into his mind but the question of who he should ask also arised, his father and step mother have already taken sides with Vicky and he can't go to Vicky's parent, how would he go to their house and explain to them how he cheated on his wife, their daughter? No way! Queen who used to help him, already hates him, so there's absolutely no one he could go to for help except to stand and face what ever Vicky has in store for him.

K.C seems to be enjoying the sunday service, as he kept on nodding and smiling to every sentence the preacher makes.

''The promises of God concerning your life will surely come to pass In Jesus name'' the preacher said and they all screamed Amen, K.C screaming the loudest.

Uh-oh, the smile suddenly changed to a frown!

K.C looked around and shifted uncomfortably in his seat, as soon as the preacher mentioned fornication as one of the hindrance to God's promises.

When the preacher's eyes met his, as if he was talking to him, he looked at the door which was far away and wondered what pushed him to the front pew.

Throughout the rest of the preaching, K.C was half-sitted and half standing, he didn't like the way the preaching turned from God's promises to youthful lust, worst still, it was if the preacher was talking to him.

The moment the service ended, he bolted, incase the preacher who kept on glancing at him during the period he preached, tries to talk to him.

Nate drove into Jane's compound happily, but when he saw a white-coloured Toyota camry outside, his happiness quickly changed to sadness.

He entered the sitting room and met Jane sitting alone and he became happy again, he was thinking Benjamin was in the house.

''Jane, how are you?''

''I'm fine Nate'' she replied tearily and he walked up to her and sat beside her.

''Jane stop crying, I hate seeing you this way'' he replied and gently placed her head on his shoulder.

All the soothing words he could think of, he used them and finally, she smiled at him..

''Thanks Nate''

''You're welcome, Hey, I was thinking you would need a car to move around so...

''Oh that! Benjamin already got me a car, a beautiful white camry, didn't you see it outside?''

His smile vanished and got replaced with a frown.

''You don't look happy, any problem?'' Jane asked.

''Oh! I'm happy, Benjamin is such a caring guy'' he said faking a smile but inwardly he was screaming ''he beat me to this again''

Vicky is taking this whole issue too far, he only came to visit her. It's better for ken to divorce her & let everyone go their separate ways.. So he can't visit Kath but she can visit her abi... Selfish woman
