Can We Successfully Relocate To Nigeria With N50m? by reconnecting(op): 8:23am On Jul 18, 2017
Hi guys,
I live in the UK with my family (wife and 2 kids).
By the end of this year it will be 9 years since we moved here.
We have decided to move back to Nigeria permanently as a family.
We haven't set a date yet but the move is imminent.
Please I would like to know if N50m would be enough to tide us over for up to 2 years at least.
Abuja is where we're looking at residing.
Both kids are in primary school but one will be entering secondary school next year.
Kindly advice on what you think would be ideal financially.
Neither of us have a job or business lined up in Nigeria yet but we're hoping 2 years would be enough to get something going (or is it?).
We could really use your feedback.
Thanks a lot,
Chris

my advice for you is to stay back there in the UK if possible, or better still secure a job in nig before moving down. and abuja life is really expensive. you can't survive without a job for 2yrs 50million, and it all depend on the standard of life you have set for yourself

Abuja is pretty expensive,
Relocate to a city like Uyo or calabar that's less expensive

You can even buy land and build a decent four bedroom apartment with 15 million here,
And there are good schools here for your kids

His coming to Nigeria with his family is IMMINENT.
Op, I think #50million is enough for you through the two years you (and your wife) hope to get a good job.
Before coming down to Nigeria, carry out the projected cost for the two years. From the apartment cost to the children school fees. Ensure you take a proper projection and be moderate about it...because we cant rule out more than two years or even three. Further more, the level at which you sought job should not be that of the gentlemanly type o. Be rugged and tenacious. I know for sure that there are jobs. I wish you the best OP

Op, certain questions are pertinent here:
Do you lost your job and not sure of securing another?
Do you have any permanent building of your own here in Nigeria?
If yes, is it in the town you wish to live when in Nigeria?
Are you sure of a job here in Nigeria(but thousands are already losing theirs on daily basis)?
Do you intend to go into a business here( be also ready body, soul and spirit for the Nigerian business environment)?
If yes, do you have any prior knowledge of the Nigerian business environment (quiet tempting and sometimes very funny but it pays if you do it with clean hands)?
More of these will help you.

But I'll honestly advise you stay put and enjoy your days provided you can pick you bills whenever it calls.

Well I disagree with this statement. There is nothing bad in relocating back to Nigeria, meanwhile,we should not forget easily that a lot of Nigerians based here go by their legitimate daily business and live happy so coming back home is not like going to hell.Let me advise the op you can invest part of the move on real estate that will generate rent to support you while you go into other businesses like agriculture or buying and selling,I'm into real estate though if you are interested.

You are definitely on course coming back home and I have always admired people who plan their future.

The only issue here is that you are trying to test the depth of the river with both feet.

There are opportunities in Abuja as well as other parts of Nigeria but what you need to do is use the 2 years to alternate your stay between the Uk and Nigeria as this will give you ample time to find a suitable business you would like to do.

Real estate and farming are a good start.

*Don’t dare come at once o!

Relocate little by little.Come back buy a house stay some months go back to the UK spend another six months then come back set up your business to run stay a couple of months go back. This wud take BTW 3-5years.If you bring your whole 50million into d system,it wud sink and u may not have a base to return to so try this out..

My dear this is the best decision you have made to relocate to Nigeria with your family. Kudos for that because there is no place like home.

Firstly I want to know if you will be able to go back to UK if you come back home? I asked because you will have to look for what you can be bringing into Nigeria from UK as in Importation. This you will do by yourself while your wife will be overseeing the business when you travel to bring in the goods.

I am talking from experience so dont mind any body telling you not to come or bla bla bla. Most of them havent travelled anywhere before hence dont really know what you mean. They think that staying abroad is all it takes for you to survive and be comfortable capital NO.

So start now to look and research on the fast moving products which Nigerians comes there to import back home and start learning the secrets of such business.

If you like I can narrow your mind to few products people bring in from uk and then you have to do the research on your own.

Lastly make sure wherever you decide to stay that you will not be a tenant. 50m is alot of money to make you bery comfortable while running a good business too. Do not plan to come home and work for anybody that will be your biggest mistake. Plan to be your own boss over here because that is tgat same thing I did and achieved success.

I wish you the best.
