I still give milk mixed with cereal in a bottle. Like 7scops cereal 5scops milk and she takes about 5 to 6 bottles daily then nibbles on other foods. Sucks only at night...

Is it okay?

Or i should do milk separately as a drink?
Cos d cereal sef has milk.

My madam has refused to eat well.
She prefers bottle.
She doesn't pay attention to food when u r feeding her...
Then once she sights water... thats d end of d food.
And no pepper in d food o.
She just loves water and drinks almost one liter daily

Pls any tips or advise.

Hey mama, how are you?
How old is she?

And what do you mean by she doesnt pay attention to food?

You can start giving water a couple of weeks before. I did that purely because i wanted to start my lo at meal times with a cup instead of a sippy cup or bottle. So we had some training wih a cup prior to the actual start of weaning, so we are not struggling with to many new things at the same time.

For the actual food, start with one meal a day and gradually work up to 3, within a month or 2. You are essentially substituting a solid meal for a usual breast feed. Fruit or cereal doesnt really matter. Single flavours of fruit or veg are preferable at the start as it is easier to spot and identify any allergies to any foods as opposed to offering a mix of food and not knowing what they are reacting to.

Begin with a time that works best for you. I am not a morning person so i couldnt start weaning in my morning zombie mode! So we did it at lunchtime which was anytime between 12:00 and 15:00

If you want to also do baby led weaning later on and give finger foods, i would say do it just before they have their evening bath as it can be quite messy.

Just a few teaspoons at the start is considered a success. Then offer breast milk afterwards. This way as they eat more solids, they drink less milk

Also dont do it when the babies are super hungry or cranky as you will just be wasting your time.
If the baby is already wimpering or crying offer breast first, and then solids afterwards.

As a rough guide my current timetable is:

6:00 - 7:30 Wake up/ early morning milk feed
8:30- 9:30: breakfast - cereal/ fruit puree
11:00 - 11:30: milk feed
13:00 - 13:30 : lunch - usually containing meat or fish with a puree afterwards some times.
15:00 - 15:30 : milk feed
17:30 - 18:00: dinner - depending on my lazyness factor but mainly veg based.
18:30 -19:30 : milk feed after bath
20:30 - 21:30 : final milk feed before bed

You can tweak to suit youself. I try to give fruit at least once a day. If we dont have it with our breakfast cereal, we have it as second course at lunch or we use it at dinner time with some baby rice.

At about 8 months i introduced formular especially for our last night feed as i noticed my madam usually sleeps off on the breast. So i wanted to break that habit. Now she has her bottle of formular, burp and i put her down to sleep. After plenty rolling about she finally sleeps.

Then i am gradually substituting one of the milk feeds to formular or expressed milk from a bottle. now we are on early morning and just be after bathtime breast feed with the odd post lunch feed hear and there .

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

Modification: when getting cereal, the creamy porridges already has milk in it. So its just to add water. However if getting other cereals you will have to use eithwr breastmilk or mix with formular milk.

Cc. Suzy, Akorkor, iomoge2 and other mamas . S
weaning / feeding timetable i used at the time. Hope it helps

I made a complain like this last week that my baby vomitted during creche visiting time. When i got back to the office, i read about it and i saw that its constipation that caused it. So what you will do its to let him be for some hours like say 1hr( after that feed him water so that he can digest all hes been eating for past hours) Then burp him until he belch.

This work for me

@enque on baby falling down
Chia we suffered o
Ma babe fell from d bed twice. Once from me and another from hubby.
Then i carried her one day and doozed off and she fell... this was early early sef like 12wèks

Well d one dat broke d camels back was when we were sleeping at night. I just heard her screaming.
I looked and saw her on d floor... haaaa.
Madam wont sleep on her bed and she can turn 4 africa.
I spend my nights hald awake keeping her in place but that night... i didnt know what happened.

When we woke up.. we just jejely put our bed on d floor and carried the wood out.
Cant shout.
Her own bed too is open.
She is climbing mistress now so she climbs into hers from ours.... then she has learnt how to come down from d bed herself... leg first.

I thought i will die tjose days she fell but what i thank God for was that she was always screaming after falling... God forbid she feel hard and kept quiet.

Dont beat yourself.
Just try 4 ways to make everything easy for her.
This movt time is something else.
We have emptied the tins on d floor.... now everything is up up.
Its only her toy thats on d floor now.
Even cables and extention boxea r hanging... cos u won't say u will hold her always and not alloe her to explore.

Ps
I couldn't sè ur post where u complained but i saw other mamas comments.

thanks dear.
We have resorted to removing the bed frame and dropping the mattress on the floor

my ds does that too o! ever since he started crawling, it's difficult to get him to sit in one place longer than 30seconds;that is why only my DH

and my mum can feed him, cos i don't have that kind of patience. my mum says it's excitement. he's almost 9months too
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Fyngal1(f): 11:24am On Jul 19, 2017
@jazzyjazz, my baby vomits too when he is overfed. that is why whenever i return from work, i ask what time his last feed was so i know whether to breastfeed immediately or not.

The cut is not a big one ooo. It's just to allow the tiny stick go under the skin and they'll give you local anaesthethic. Visit www.honeyandbanana.com to learn about the diff family planning. Ps. I just got IUD on sunday, yes it can come out but thats why you're to check for the first 3months after your period. If it stays, you're good for 5-10years. another option, i used the 3month injection called sayana press before having my baby. For the injection and implanon, you cant use them if you're obese, have heart disease, stroke, liver disease or a close family member(mother or sister) that has or had cancer.

Oh thank u mama.

Give a little milk at a time, keep observing him. If he still vomits with little feeds, i think you should start ors and take him to the hospital

Enfamil, Aptamil, Similac, SMA, NAN are good choices depending on ur pocket. My lo has been on Aptamil since birth. Get between 5 and 8 bottles. It all depends on your pocket too. You can decide to get more. Tommee tippee, Avent are popular and good brands here in Lagos. I hear Avent now have a lot of fakes in the market so watch out

Thanks! But how do I differentiate fake from real? Also saw some not too popular name brand at pep store. How will I know which is original and can I pick any sizes e.g. fat/short or slim/tall? Don't mind my adjectives smiley

For the sake of cleaning and keeping bottles sanitized, at least 10 bottles.
For choice of milk that depends on your pocket.
Nan, aptamil, sma gold, Lactogen and several others are good.
I started my son on sma gold but he didn't like it, then I switched to lactogen and he didn't like it either, but when I got nan 1, he took it well and that's what he's been taking since. We just recently switched to nan 2 when he clocked 6 months

Thanks! Dyu perchance have an idea of the cost of the listed milks?

THe big one with the green cover is 250ml and its actually my favorite
The smaller one is 125ml and I use that one for water mostly except when I want to give my son a small feed
