All we do is to share. No value created or added
God bless you, we keep living beyond our means and think it would always be rosy for us, whats our gdp without crude oil? and our civil service what do they realy contribute compared to say CSCEC of China or ethopian airways? when breeze go blow fowl yansh go open just like during the oil price crash of 2015/16.

Some "ignorant" folks like givbitcoin think restructuring is an evil agenda...yes an evil agenda against the greedy lazy political elites who only want free money to loot without being held to account for mismanaging our common wealth if it came directly from our sweats, so they can eventually hold everyone else to ransom.

Every state ought to look inwards seriously to grow its IGR through agriculture, industrulization, tourism or whichever means instead of waiting for free bail out money from fg to eat and go sleep and continue being lazy 180 million heads who contribute virtually nothing useful to humanity, not even toothpick, after 57 years of independence, infact we are getting worse in time compared to others like ghana and kenya.

Our present structure can not work. Government is too large and has become a weight on us all. The question is what is the % of these Govt workers compared to the total population of Kwara State and what's their productivity.
We need to reduce the cost of governance so we can invest in social infrastructures that will benefit the larger population.

That is because, since independence, our economy has been 'wired' that way. We sell raw materials and food abroad....and share the money.

(That is why we have had a big civil war, several coups, and the current tribal fight as well as all those calls for restructuring, and even things like sharia, and Christian argy-bargy over who gets appointments and CRK....ultimately it is an argument over sharing money).

Back in the 1970's....we did have attempts at having a value creating economy....via the National Development PLans...which later evolved into VIsion 2020. But unfortunately, oil went up by 100% in 1973....and we fell back into our resource dependent ways.
salute bro, you have a perfect analysis to Nigeria's problem

State government might, as a short term measure, raise taxes on businesses, and road tolls on state roads to raise cash for the salaries.

Oil has fallen. THis is the new reality.
They did that already, its even much above normal, many companies v closes down already because of d high tax being billed on them. .. But still, the taxes they collect are being shared among demselves... . . No good road, No salary, No light.... Lawless state

Which businesses are you talking about ?

You mean they should increase taxes on businesses undergoing recession ? I read about FIRS sealing businesses owing up to N900m

I remember something one man told me many years ago, if you know how money moves, you will intercept it.

The Nigerian govt and Ministry of finance does not know how money moves..

Moreover, Nigerian system worship rich people. So make i shut up.

The sad reality is that this Paris fund won't be utilized fully. Our leaders are so insensitive as well as myopic. Dialogue with the local government workers on why the government can't meet their expectations and prove to them that other projects that will benefit the state will consume part of the fund. Hereafter, assure them on a future date when the salaries will be fully paid. Give the your word and stand by it.
Somebody you are owing for 6months, you will be explaining what to him, that giving all LG salary earners N1bn outta N5.1bn is for state good.

Haba, fear God.

So wetin governor wan do with N4.1bn ?
