OP, you stated 2 unequal power ratings for a single generator (6.5hp, 3.5kva) abi na two generators?

Certainly, 6.5hp can never be same as 3.5kva. Kva has to be converted to kW before conversion to hp, and watt equivalence of the kva will be less than 3.5kw since no electrical load is purely resistive.

Meanwhile, 1hp = 0.746kw, meaning 6.5hp = 4.85kw and this may be more than 5kva for a good power factor.

My question; which of the two values (6.5hp or 3.5kva) is the actual power rating?

Whenever you are converting Hp to Kva,you factor in percentage of efficiency.(factor of safety)
If this is a China generator,if would have rated about 5Kva
European standard is different from the China scrab they dump here in Africa.
If 6.5hp is 4.85kva ,They have factory in an efficiency of about 75% to it to arrive at 3.5kva
