Victims who narrated their experience said they were attacked by robbers with POS machines, who immediately dispossessed them of their money from their accounts.

One victim, who was robbed at her home in Owerri, last night, told journalists that the family was taken unawares when some criminals burgled into their home and swiftly directed them to submit large sums of money. When they could not produce the money, they were forced to disclose their pin numbers for transfer, using POS machine they came with.

Also, a man who wanted to buy a car in Owerri, was shot yesterday by suspected armed robbers in Owerri, after he had been trailed to the bank.

“The victim had gone to a car dealer on the outskirts of the city to buy a car worth about N1.3 million. The dealer told the prospective buyer to pay him in cash. In order to comply with the request, the buyer headed to his bank to withdraw from his account only to be confronted by the bandits,” according to sources.

The matter is under investigation, according to police sources.
