A member of the Edo Civil Society Group and Secreatry of Edo Peoples Assembly, Marxist Kola Edokpayi, has accused the State Police Command of seizing and hacking his phone after arresting him about two months ago.
In a statement to the press, Edokpayi also passed a vote of no confidence on the Officer-in-Charge of the Legal department, for failing to advice the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, on the point of law.


He said, “I was arrested without warrant on May 16, 2017 by more than 25 heavily armed police officers from State Command Headquarters. They invaded my house in the most unprofessional and callous manner, on the order of my friend, CP Gwandu for speaking truth to power.


“The police upon my arraignment in a Court that lacks jurisdiction hacked, broke my passcode and invaded my phone. They used it to communicate with my friends and relatives on Watsapp and Facebook till May 28 while I was still in Freedom Republic (Oko Prison).


“The President of Human Rights House, Barrister Abraham Oviawe , raised the alarm through a formal petition addressed to Gwandu and the press on May 31, 2017. The petition requested the release of my Techno Andriod phone.


"The Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Nkombe, while fielding questions from journalists denied knowledge of the incident and promised that the matter would be investigated.
