That's the best secondary school in Nigeria. If your child can't get into this school then send him outside to Ghana or Cameroon. A graduate from loyola can conveniently compete with a university graduate in Nigeria. Their students are all gods.

You are right Loyola is very good. But there are other good ones in naija. Have you also heard of the private secondary schools in Ota? Quite good.

true but it also starts from their admmission process. they are competitive and take mainly the best. so the students in the school are hoghly intelligent students already. coupled with the excellent environment and interactions among fellow smart people, we shouldnt be surprised.

That said their performances are extraordinary. there was a year 82% of the students had A1 in waec maths and english

Do they partake in Jamb, if yes, how many times has a student of the school broken the records?

Knew a couple of them in my faculty, they are good but not to the length of competiting with an undergraduate talkless of a graduate. None of them is in faculty top 5-10.

Let them handle ordinary 4×4 matrix or basic Lagrangian and let's see if dem go still dey alive to tell the story.

ahhh for typing the emboldened am sincerely sorry sir...you lie , so after they graduate from S.SCH do they get employed automatically? abeg jhor, most kids that attend schools as such are either sons, daughters, cousins, nieces etc of pen thieves(politicians) I attended a community secondary school that a term fee can buy just two plate of fried rice and chicken but fact is it made me strong I CAN FACE THE WORST

It also made you ignorant.

Frankly, Buhari cannot put his child in Loyola unless that child passes the highly contested entrance exams and interview. Every single child there is there on merit.

of course some children of the rich are best placed to enter there due to the high quality of education they almost certainly had received at the nursery and primary level...but tons of others get in there too.

Loyola Jesuit College is a private, co-educational, boarding, secondary school in Abuja,[1] operated by the Society of Jesus of the Roman Catholic church. The school was opened on October 2, 1996, and is named after the Society's founder, St. Ignatius of Loyola. The highly selective, six-year school has claimed the best results on the West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations for the past seven years, as well as the best JAMB results for several of those years, and is thus regarded as one of the best secondary schools in West Africa

Loyola Jesuit College is one of the most academically selective secondary schools in Nigeria, but welcomes boys and girls of all faiths. In the year 2010, 5000 wrote the school entrance exam and LJC accepted 100, or 2% of its applicants. It is one of the first schools in Nigeria to implement a strictly online application policy. Prospective students both apply online and receive their results online.[6] LJC does not accept transfers: students must enter the school into First Year.

2.8 kini?

How much in tuition fees did my parents spend to see me through ESUT, not to talk of a miserable secondary school? I am not sure it was up to 300 thousand Naira.

Some of us attended community, I mean, village secondary schools. There and then, we'd trek kilometers to get to school.

Today, my family: nuclear and extended, are happy for the return on their investment in me.

Re: Loyola Jesuit Abuja In Pictures by Nobody: 8:25am On Aug 01, 2017
it's not by the kind of expensive school you go to, I can bet you if 50% of them graduate from University it's jobs they will be looking for. It's better you have mind that is creative. People like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg didn't attend such schools but because of the idea they have, it made them billionaires.

How many times have they set of broken records because for a princely sum of 2.8 million per sesion they can't just be passing Jamb well but setting new records... Like nbeing the top ten in every Jamb examination

Lol...after everything, JAMB humbles them all. They end up in private universities where JAMB is not a requirement. The few of them that manage to make it into the Federal Universities are not as smart as you are shouting. We saw them all.

Quite a number of Loyola Graduates attend the ivy leagues. I know a guy from there who was accepted to, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT 3years ago. he eventually picked MIT. His whole family traveled with him to school when he resumed(so he wouldn't be lonely at first as they said). There is money in this country seriously. Please work hard, so your children can have the best of everything. Little wonder why the wealthy will always be.

Excitement as WAEC celebrates outstanding candidates, schools

TAIWO OJOYE
2 DEC 2016

Folashade Adebayo

He tried to keep his speech short, but Father Joe-Stanis Okoye, Principal, Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja, could not hide the sparks of joy and elation in his voice.

Clutching the trophy won by Loyola Jesuit in both hands, Okoye commended his pupils for regularly bringing the school honour in the annual West African Examinations Council Awards for outstanding performance.

The educationist and his team have reasons to be excited. The awards ceremony, organised by the WAEC, recognised three candidates with the best results. Also, the Omo N’Oba Erediauwa Coronation Trophies and the Augustus Bandele Oyediran Trophy decorated schools that produced the best male and female candidates and school with the best overall results respectively.

The WAEC awards have produced winners in different categories since 1985 except in 1988 when the council did not stage the ceremony.

But the 2016 edition, held at the council’s international office in Lagos on Thursday, celebrated three pupils and five schools, including the LJC.

Since 2002, when the school made its first showing as the school with the best overall West African Senior School Certificate Examinations results, it continued the streak till 2005, returning in 2008 to clinch the prize in that category.  This year, Loyola Jesuit won big for producing the best female candidate and having the best overall results in the 2015 WASSCE.

Speaking at the occasion, Okoye commended his pupils for being what he called intentional learners.

“Our pupils plan to learn and also engage in constant review and reflection of what we have been doing and what we can do better. We call it the Magis, a Latin word for excellence. We are grateful to God for these awards. When God gives us something, He wants us do more. We want our pupils to be encouraged and inspired to do better,” he said.’

But the LJC was not alone in the moment of glory. The Oritamefa Baptist Model School, Ibadan, shone like a million stars when it was announced as the school which produced the best male candidate – Oluwasayo Babalola – who also happened to be the candidate with the best 2015 WASSCE results in the country.  In 2010 and 2011, the school was decorated by WAEC for producing the best female candidates in the 2009 and 2010 WASSCE respectively.

Three schools in Lagos were also rewarded as those with the best aggregate results in the 2015 WASSCE. These are Lagoon School, Lekki, (first position); Sagab College, Ikorodu, (second position) and Wellspring College, Ikeja (third position).

In the distinction/merit category, 17-year-old Babalola emerged the best candidate in the year under review,  with Grade 1 in nine subjects, narrowly edging out Toluwase Alabi,  formerly of Our Lady and St. Francis Catholic College, Osogbo, Osun State,  with Grade 1 in eight subjects,  to the second position.

Both academic heavy weights,  who were represented at the event by their parents, are studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ibadan.

Emerging as the candidate with the third best result in the 2015 WASSCE and the best female candidate with the best result is Ugonma Nkata. The 17-year-old, who graduated from the LJC, has distinctions in eight subjects.

However, in his address, the Head of National Office of the council, Mr. Olu Adenipekun, argued that academic excellence was not tied to the class of school a candidate attended. He added that deserving candidates must make outstanding results at the first attempt and at the same sitting.

He said, “No school or class of schools has the monopoly of producing brilliant candidates as village and community schools have, once in a while, produced award winners. Winners of the awards have always been high flyers whose academic excellence spanned their primary and secondary school careers and who have continued to blaze the trail in the best universities in Nigeria, Europe and America. The awards have thus confirmed the validity of WAEC assessment.’’
