BENITEZ WANTS TRANSFER MOVEMENT Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez admits to "moving in different directions" as he seeks to bring new players to St James' Park this transfer window. The Magpies have made just five signings during the summer but Benitez says he must trim his squad in order to bring in some new players, as they prepare for their return to the Premier League against Tottenham on Sunday, live on Sky Sports. Owner Mike Ashley had promised to give Benitez "every penny the club generates" from promotion and players sales to rebuild the squad. But the Spaniard confessed to being frustrated over the lack of incomings and outgoings at the club last month, and following injury to striker Dwight Gayle, is desperate to improve his team. "We know what we need and we will try to do this until the end of the transfer window," Benitez said following Newcastle's 2-0 win over Hellas Verona on Sunday. "We are now trying to move in different directions at the same time." |

OBLAK AGENT TO MEET PSG PSG are set to meet with the agent of Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, reports A Bola. Having smashed the world transfer record to sign Neymar from Barcelona, the Ligue 1 club are now setting their sights on luring another top-class player from La Liga. PSG have a long-standing interest in Oblak – there was talk of a €60m move for the Slovenian earlier this year – and A Bola reports that they are set to meet with his representative Miha Mlakar at some point over the next few days to discuss his future. Oblak has a €100m buyout clause and PSG would have no problem activating it. PSG’s sporting director Antero Henrique has tracked Oblak since the goalkeeper’s time at former club Benfica. |

CHOUPO-MOTING SET FOR STOKE Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is set to join Stoke on a three-year deal, according to Sky sources. The Cameroonian striker is a free agent after leaving Schalke in the summer after three years at the Bundesliga side. The 28-year-old, who scored three goals in 30 appearances for Schalke last season, represented his country at the World Cup in 2010 and 2014. |

BARCA REACH DEMBELE AGREEMENT’ Barcelona have reached an agreement with Ousmane Dembele, according to L’Equipe. The Camp Nou giants need new signings after the departure of Neymar to PSG last week and they are ramping up their interest in their targets. The Borussia Dortmund forward could be the next new player to arrive at the Camp Nou, with L’Equipe reporting that Barca have reached an agreement with the France international. Barca are now in negotiations with Dortmund, although the Bundesliga club want €100m for the 20-year-old, a fee that the Catalan giants believe to be excessive. The La Liga outfit were close to signing Dembele a year ago before he joined Dortmund from Rennes in a €15m deal. |

Right-winger Rachid Ghezzal underwent a medical with AS Monaco yesterday; will join on a 5-year-deal Arsenal remain in talks with Monaco over winger Thomas Lemar, according to Sky sources. Monaco's public statements have gone from their Vice President saying he was not for sale two weeks ago, to their coach admitting he can't guarantee he will be at the club at the end of the window. Arsenal's rejected bid for Lemar is believed to have been in the region of £30m. |
