Getting Justin Bieber on that track was the icing on the cake. JB just has that magic with the charts. The song is also very very nice with lovely carribean tune plus it cuts across the world. Anyone from the latin as well as the English speaking countries would easily love the song. Kudos to the puerto ricans. I loved the song the second I heard it.

The original version is more like a click bait, like wizkid come closer with no drake...

Are you guys dreaming? Video that was already on 2B before Justin jumped on it. He's not even in the original song that has garnered 3B views on Youtube.

The record was easily broken cos of internet data penetration and lowered prices... More so, Youtube now uses less data.

Over 3 billion views? The song is good alright and similar to the ones done by Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul but not enough for it to garner that much views. I'm doubting the veracity of the views.

My OP if you're new the music game let me educate you, most upcoming stars pay for views, how do I know this I run a channel on youtube, and have the connection to brands that promote your videos for 100$ per 20,000 views, and boom you're a big boy on youtube. And no this is not Bot crap, the brand spreads your content on multi social channels to get organic views, how do I know that my channel has 5000 views in 1 one month of launch using social media BIG TIME.

Are you saying that NO VIDEO will go viral WITHOUT BOOST VIEWS?...Do the maths using ur $100 for 20000 views on a video with 2 billion views and counting then you will see how illogical your submission is!

I downloaded the song... The one that doesnt have bieber on it. I didnt know it would be this hit though. Honestly.

IMO, bieber has little or no influence on the song's meteroric rise to top of charts etc. The song was already a hit...and i had it as NO1 on my new playlist beforw i even watched a video of it that had bieber on it.

Dude Youtube is no rocket science, Late night I saw a Nigerian lady who makes crappy fashion Videos, has over 220,000 subscribers and near 30million views in less than 8months she started, and you say she did not pay for views, let me teach you how to become viral on youtube even with crappy videos, 1) make the video, 2) pay for facebook boosted ads post 350,000 naira will get you over 3million views on facebook using this method, 3) buy views on unique sites I know 10,000$ will get you over 3million Organic views, 4) with 6million people seeing your crappy videos, 100,000 will subscribe, and boom your a big star to youtbe, and then youtube will auto put you in peoples mentions when there come to youtube, 5) that is how to go viral on youtube in 1month DUDE, hope that helps you people who see this.

despacito is global but so are other musics topping the billboard chart(which i happen to like)
so it ain't singularly global.

I even first saw it on televister TV , it's just everywhere.

I hope you know that there was no ounce of English in the original version? It was Justin that gave it the final touch of gold. I listened to the original version and it was just some sorta sweet useless sounds to me (yeah, I couldn't get a single sense outta it mehn but it was sensational). It's just like Olamide rapping in Yoruba when me no dey understand Yoruba. LOL
