kingWB:Hello boss, While I understand your angle especially wanting to stay back and work, I will advice you focus on the short term goal first, which is obtaining your msc first. When you are on ground, everything will become very clear with respect to your long term goal, which is working/phd. In the light of this, I would advice you pursue admission for a masters course in psychology and everything will follow suit. Since, you aim to pursue phd, while doing your msc put your ears on the ground. There are always bits of info about funding here and there, so you will definitely get wind of any info regarding funding for your phd. Everything is possible. All you need is God and patience. My opinion is based on my understanding of your statements above. I might not be correct though... Warm regards. Mazi |

glam4444:@mostblackroads from my own little understanding going by using a third party sponsor would have been nice if he paid your full fees or half to show commitment and even go ahead to transfer the money for your upkeep into your account and also stating in the sponsorship letter that he has paid your fees and transferred money into your account and will even do more "when" your visa is approved! I think that is better For the misrepresentation, now you have known! In your next application please declare it If you are not sure it's better to err on the side of caution... It's better to tick" YES " when you have not been denied than to tick "NO" when you have been denied |

ibbravura:This is applicable to most of the countries if not all, including Nigeria. To gain Citizenship status in a country, you must have resided in that country for 10years and above. Then you and file in for citizenship. In some countries, you'll be placed on a exams and if passed, you'll be granted citizenship. Then you can get your passport. What most people if not all who go for studies in Canada do is, after their studies, they'll be granted a post-study work permit. Usually 1yr work permit for a 1yr study and 3yrs work permit for a 2yr study. During their work permit, they do their IELTS and join the FSWP Express Entry Pool. At this point, with their very high CRS points because of the advantage of Canadian study/work/a valid job offer (these features shoots up CRS points), they'll be given an ITA, and eventually a Permanent Residence Permit Status. Now let me clear this, Permanent Residence permit is NOT citizenship. You are only free to reside and work and school as a citizen (as you won't be required to pay international fees in schools) with all the benefits of a citizen But the Citizenship status and passport. After 10yrs of stay, you can now File for Citizenship. This is the best I know about the whole thing. Regards. Cc: @ronvlaar |

Emmane:To become a Canadian citizen after gaining PR status, you have to have spent 1,460 days during the six years right before the date you sign your application and 183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years right before the date you apply. That's about 4 years out of 6 years, not 10 years. Read up on it on CIC's website. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp |

Emmane:@Bolded, WRONG! For Canada, according to what is written on CIC's website, you must have been physically present in Canada as a permanent resident for at least: - 1,460 days (4 years) during the six years right before the date you sign your application -183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years right before the date you apply http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp *** I think it will soon be amended to 3 years instead of 4 years once it is approved by the senate*** https://www.cicnews.com/2017/06/changes-canadian-citizenship-act-to-become-law-069241.html |

kingWB:What you said about PGD applicant is completely FALSE. Aspa your intended program I will advise you go for your Msc, don't worry much about your PhD for now as you can get full funding for that when the time is right. I am not yet in Canada but that's my little take in this, hope it helps. NB: concerning you bot being able to practice psychology with your Msc I can't say about that, people with experience should be able to explain that |

GlitteringStar:Hey Boss, Thank you for this. I never went through CIC website to know about this but just to buttress on what I wrote earlier, there r certain criteria to fulfil to gain citizenship. Its is not an automatic thing to gain citizenship immediately after studies in Canada. My assumptions where based on social studies background knowledge of gaining citizenship in country, that the fellow must reside up to 10yrs. I think it still holds in some countries. |

Dear friends, please I need help on a disturbing issue. I applied to a University in Canada to study masters in Civil engineering and had spoken to two potential supervisors, who have promised funding opportunities if admitted. At the moment, I have 1 million in my account but I can be able to pay the required fees (20k cad) if not sponsored but that will be when I have a visa and sell some of my properties. My greatest fears lies in my statement of account. How do I go about this? On the other hand, I have a friend who is willing in to give me his bank statement of 80k USD but I am not related to him. Please, what are the steps I need to take as I am very hopeful for the admission while my application is under review for January 2018. Thank you all as I await your response. |

Dammiehar:Dammi, gracias..... I had to go to readup the link you posted. So now we know the 10yrs residency to gain citizenship is not applicable to Canada, but its a normal thing i learnt donkey years ago back in primary abi secondary sch, lol. But eh, what dos this mean "To become a Canadian citizen after gaining PR status, you have to have spent 1,460 days during the six years right before the date you sign your application and 183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years right before the date you apply. ..... Cuz I am lost. Pls Explain what they mean by that. Thanks. |
