How do we get hold of the list to know which ones are closed. They should publish the names of the schools. |

This is the pattern. Every new govt will close schools, some will close shops while others will destroy the structures that the previous govt approved with the pretense that the correct process was not followed or that it was illegal. All for the sake of raking in more money. Useless bunch these politicians. |

Elinosweet143:Yeah I totally agree with you, especially those mushroom church afflicted international schools. Wike got it right this time, a lot of mushroom substandard nursery/primary schools in Rivers State. Some of their facilities are not conducive for birds in a poultry not to talk of human beings who are the future of tomorrow.[/quote] |

Someone said is exaggeration, am sure is not. There're some street where we have more than 10 school. Nursery, primary and secondary. Some will in a batcher house and the students won't more than 5-20. |

Ever8054:The figure might appear outrageous, but it is accurate. In Rukpokwu alone, I know of over 50 schools comprising of Nursery, Primary and Secondary, operating without govt approval. That number represents those that I have seen and know of personally. How much more, those I don't know about. And Rukpokwu is just an outskirt of Port Harcourt. Imagine the other parts. I believe that there are at least 5000 illegal schools operating in Port Harcourt. |

Some of these mush room schools as they are called bring education to the door steps of the poor.School fees these days is more expensive than an Msc fees. My question is,how will the poor send their kids to school? One of such primary school at my back yard here breeds kids that are sound academically, but they are classified under the mush room group. Such closures mean unemployment,an increased illitrate population,an increase in crime, kills education and the concept of a humble begining..some of these so called mega schools started off as mushroom schools, today, they are respected. Government should give them a chance and encourage them through loans and grands to take education to the next level..Mind you, some schools will bypass this action with money and connection.God help us |
