They made up for their sexual interruption three days later. It was Rhoda who paid Black a visit this time around. And as usual, they waited till Basket was out of the picture before they jumped on each other like lions. Black spent almost two hours drilling her like an oil well. They simply couldn’t get enough of each other. While Basket was out in the street stealing their daily bread, Black was busy with Rhoda. But one thing was for sure though, both Black and Basket sweated in their different jobs. After three hot rounds, the two lovers were finally spent; they couldn’t go on anymore. They still wanted each other but their bodies were unwilling.

“I feel guilty,” Rhoda confessed.

“About what?”

“About what we are doing. It’s unfair to your friend.”

“Isn’t this the first time you are feeling bad for Basky? I thought you didn’t care about him. What changed?”

“I’m human, too, you know?” She gave him a side gaze and beat his chest.

Peter chuckled and asked, “What do you want us to do? Should we end this?” He asked the question playfully for he knew what he said was impossible. He was too drowned in this cesspool of lust for any hope of CPR.

“We would have ended it a long time ago if we could. It’s just so unfortunate how things are turning out to be.”

“Maybe this would stop when you eventually marry him.”

“God forbid I do that!”

“Have you forgotten that you accepted his proposal?”

“It doesn’t mean that I’m really going to marry him. I would never marry John.”

“But he loves you a lot,” he paused and said, “He loves you more than I do. He may even choose you over me.”

“Love is a sweet feeling but such a terrible thing. A loves B but B loves C instead, and C in turn loves A. in the end, falling in love turns out to be something so sorrowful.”

“The pains of unrequited love,” Peter reflected, “I never pray to experience something so excruciating.”

Rhoda eyed him curiously and said, “Your turn will come. Now, how do I get your friend to stop loving me?”

“I’m out of new ideas.”

“I can break up with him.”

“I can’t allow you to do that. We both know that would destroy him.” He suddenly stopped. He thought for a moment. He smiled broadly.

“What’s funny?”

“An idea just occurred to me. Last week, I came across a bunch of letters written to him.”

“What letters?”

“Love letters. I found about a dozen love letters in his bag. I’m sure they’re still there.”

Rhoda was appalled, “You mean he’s been having affairs with other girls?” she felt a little pang of jealousy, then her face beamed with gladness, “That means I’m actually free of him. If he can have an affair with other girls then he’s no more totally devoted to me. To be honest, his loyalty and fidelity are what scare me most about him. Now I can move on without having guilt on my conscience.”

Peter shook his head, “You’re getting it all wrong. Basky isn’t dating any of them. He’s not even giving them attention. Trust me, if he was dating anyone, I would know.”

Rhoda became sad again, “Then how are the letters going to help us? You just dashed my hopes. I wish he was dating at least one of them.”

“We can use the letters to achieve what we want.”

“How?”

“We’ll use those girls to seduce him.”

“Do you know them all?”

“I know most of them. And I can easily locate the ones I don’t know; they put their names and classes at the end of their letters.”

“Are the girls beautiful.”

“Some are beautiful, others are royally ugly. Wait, give me a moment.” He crawled out of bed and ransacked Basket’s bag. He came up with a photograph. He gave it to her. “One of the girls attached her picture to her letter.”

“She’s very pretty. Her skin is so smooth, and she has a very nice shape. Who would say no to a girl like this?”

“Someone like Basky, obviously. He’s smitten by you.”

“Your friend is a fool.”

“My friend is in love, just like you. This girl wrote even the most romantic letter among them all. She really meant business. It seems as if she’s truly in love with Basky.”

“Would you have rejected her if it was you the letter was written to?”

“Am I mad?”

“You’re a devil, Peter Black. What’s her name?”

“Karo Idisi.”

“A beautiful girl with a beautiful name. Is she your classmate?”

Peter shook his head, “According to the content of her letter, she’s a Form 4 student.”

“I’m amazed. And her letter is the most romantic?”

“She wrote that letter like a university student.”

“And still your friend rejected her. Have you ever met her?”

“I didn’t even know she existed until I saw the letter. I almost fell in love with her.”

“Perfect! We’re using her.”

“Why? You haven’t even checked the others out. You don’t know how beautiful they are.”

“I thought you said this was the most beautiful girl.”

“I said she wrote the best love letter.”

“I don’t care about the others. Karo Idisi is the perfect girl. She’s beautiful enough.”

“Don’t be deceived. Photographs should not be totally trusted. Some girls are only photogenic; in reality, they are disgusting.”

Rhoda stared at Black suspiciously. She sensed that he was trying to take her attention away from the girl so that she wouldn’t have to seduce John. He might be planning to seduce her instead, for she knew that Peter knew she was a very beautiful girl indeed. She was both jealous and angry. No, he wasn’t going to have this one.

“She’s beautiful and intelligent, no doubt,” she said, “Those qualities are enough to make John fall for her. Karo is the perfect tool, darling.”

Black shrugged indifferently, “If you say so.”

“Now, how do we convince her to seduce your friend?”

“Leave that to me. I know what to do.”

Rhoda wished she could do the job with Peter so as to keep a good eye on him and keep him from misbehaving; but since she wasn’t a student of DGS, there was nothing she could do about keeping dear Peter in check.

“Okay,” she said reluctantly. She could see a glint of excitement in Black’s face. She wondered if she had made a grave mistake by speaking out her mind.

“Now let’s get dressed before Basky returns and catch us in this pathetic state.”

“No,” Rhoda refused, “Let’s go one more round. I’ll be on top this time.”
