First, there's a difference between a solicitor and a barrister/attorney in more advanced climes. Solicitors do all legal works unconnected with the court system. Works like giving legal advice, signing documents etc while an attorney/barrister-at-law defends clients in courts. but in Nigeria, the two roles are merged. Now to the question, attorney General is a political appointee of the president with the rank of a cabinet minister who generally oversees what goes on in the ministry of justice. He is ultimate power to decide on whether the govt can sue a person (e.g. in lay man's parlance, It is the govt that sues a person for crime. that's y if Intercontinental bank chairman steals money, it is the gov't that'll sue). however the solicitor general is not a cabinet member with the rank of a minister but a civil servant of the status of a permanent secretary. he is to assist the Attorney General in his duties...hope u get it?

The only one I know of is Attorney General.

Attorney General is usually a politician and it's strictly on appointment (Minister for federal and commissioner in the states)
They are usually addressed as Hon Minister of Justice and Attorney General (in the case of federal) or Him commissioner of Justice and Attorney General in thecase of state.

However, Solicitor General is the admin head of the ministry of justice being a career officer. He also doubles as the permanent secretary both in the state and federal level. They are called SG/PS
