CAC Delists 44,000 Companies by dammy13(op): 9:12am On Aug 14, 2017
No fewer than 44,000 companies have been delisted from the database of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The commission has also registered over 1.5 million companies.

Registrar General of the CAC, Bello Mahmud, said this in a chat with the Economic Confidential in Abuja.

He said the development was sequel to several breaches of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) and other extant regulations of the commission, notably, late and outright refusal to file returns.

“So far there is an improvement and a current ratio of 45 per cent. We are still checking on company records, especially in terms of compliance for those who have not been filing.

“If we discover you are not a going concern, the law establishing us gives us the power to delist from our database.

“If we discover and write you first, second and third letter without reply, we now deem it that you are not a going concern and we delist you from our database.

“So far, the first batch we delisted were about nine thousand (9000) And in the second batch about thirty-five (35,000) totalling 44,000 firms delisted from our database and is still ongoing”, he said.

There is definitely no need retaining non-functional and moribund companies.

How do they mean returns? Money or what?

Do they expect striving SMEs to start bringing crumbs outta d little they gather? Even in an economy not viable?

Somebori should help me, what are they filing...

Because as it stands, CAC remains a prerequisite to winning a project, and that's why SMEs go for it because some companies won't award u contracts without it for the fear of running with their money.

If it's money they need, Kemi Adeosun should heavily tax Dangote and the likes.....

Lol. You just reacted like my little niece. Those 1.5 million companies are the total number of registered companies in Nigeria. Not just those registered under Buhari. Actually, I think those registered under Buhari would be minimal at best given the state of the country in the past 2 years.

keep spewing trash, Buhari has accomplished more than what any past President could have accomplished in just 2years, imagine if he were to rule for 8years

A lot of companies folded up in the last two years.

Senseless supporters of Buhari will still hail him.

login to CAC website and search your company name with the registered number, if not found, then it must have been delisted.
Re: CAC Delists 44,000 Companies by omowolewa: 9:32am On Aug 14, 2017
The delisting is necessary in line with the ongoing Voluntary Assets & Income Verification Scheme (VAIDS) and having a viable list of existing companies.

Now you must file returns or be delisted. One way or the other, your company net-worth and assets are already verifiable with what is with the Tax authorities.

The next on the list is enforcement of CAFA (Certificate of Acceptance on Fixed Assets-PPE/C.Allw), Compulsory Land registration with the Ministry.

With people like you,our problems in this entity called Nigeria are far from over. Infact, they have just begun. Here you are singing the praise of a man who came to power with a promise to do better than the last administration but has ended up being no different. Have you bothered to sit down for a second to wonder why things are the way they are today? Why your president is recieving treatment in a foreign hospital as against a Nigerian health facility? I think not. Sycophancy just sits well with you. You better change your way. FYI,the past and the present,I see no difference-just a switch from umbrella to broom.
