For Future Applicants

Paper Route (the best way to submit a Canada study permit application with zero worries)

MAKE SURE YOU SUBMIT EARLY LIKE 5 MONTHS TO RESUMPTION DATE

1) Make sure all your academic docs are photocopies

2) Only Bank statement and all letters addressed to CIC should be original

3) Don't submit your passport (you might need it for other travels with faster results)

4) Link your application online

5) Live your life and check your account once a week (preferably Saturday night)

6) Pray and don't worry about the application

Note : All other documents should be photocopies
Medical Examination is optional (upfront or wait for permission to do so)
And most importantly live like you didn't submit an application

Because Canadian study permit question now is like "How old is your application?"

DON'T STRESS YOURSELF

Cheers!!

Is it compulsory to link your paper application to online as your NO 4?

After careful review of the application and supporting documents provided. Applicant appears to have limited travels which could demonstrate a history of having travelled and returned.
Is being sponsored by third party, Limited evidence of relationship on file and evidence of personal financial establishment is weak.
I am not satisfied that applicant will havd sufficient available funds for tuition and upkeep during first year of studies in Canada. Based on the evidence provided I am not satisfied application is a genuine student who intends to complete course of study in Canada and should depart at the end of the authorized stay. REFUSED.!!!

This was the only note on my application.

I think what others did not point out, I should point. The denial is not only based only on finances, it also based on home ties that would induce your return to Nigeria and also purpose of visit. The VO clearly pointed out that you have limited travel history of going and returning. They also said they are not sure you would be a genuine student. So its possible if you tackle finances as other have advised, it would take care of the purpose of visit concern in a way, but it wont take care of home ties. You need to address in your SOP and provide evidence why you think your would return to Nigeria. Employment offer; landed property and how that would compel you to return; other financial or professional investment or interest in Nigeria would go along way in addressing the VO's concern. You should also take the extra step to obtain a non conditional admission letter. Tell the school you have been educated in English all your life and if possible for them to issue an acceptance letter that does not require you to complete ESL. Nigeria's official language is English and most students from Nigeria are not required to do ESL. That would go a long way to address purpose of visit concern. The more you paint yourself as a serious student, the more serious they will take you.

You have spoken well @jnyuwa02. Well my employment letter(Job) and my family member can serve as my home tie, together with Landed properties.

MUN has refused to waive the ESL program on the ground that i was taught in English language throughout my high school education and obtained a B grade in WAEC.

They said that students from Nigeria are to sit for IELTS exams and acquire a minimum overall score of 6.5, reading and writing 6.0 each. I once wrote IELTS last year and obtained overall 6.0, reading and writing 6.0. They refused that i should rewrite the IELTS exams or go for an ESL program.

I can see many schools waving ESL program for students from Nigeria. I'm surprised at MUN.

Do you mean the ESL program will bring a red flag in my next application?

I await your response shortly.

People have done ESL successfully nau but there are several other schools you can apply to, Paying for ESL and university tuition is no joke(abt 4000cad asides your tuition)
You can even get a school furthering your desktop publishing diploma which I think might be cheaper

I have just been awarded a TA by my institution, effective 31st August 2017, this is expected to cover a substantial amount of my tuition. I am yet to get my TRV despite applying much much earlier. Should I send a mail to CIC attaching the letter to see if that would make them speed things up?

I think showing money in your own name when you have a job is crucial here. And also look for sponsor that have good bank balance

Write strong SOP and provide sufficient tie to your country. You will be in good shape.

Yes that's true, ESL program costs 3500CAD aside from tuition fee of 8,800CAD. Thank you so much for your advice. I'll look around and see if there is any school.

Most schools in Canada like colleges strictly accepts students for only fall semester.

My dear, Fall 2017. Letter came out August 12 (Dated August 10th). No funding and they want me to pay fees by August 30th. I don't know if the admission decision time is a general thing or just a peculiar case.

That's surprising o. So if one applied to only that school, he/she wouldn't have began the trv application by now. It's a Master's program right?

To those that applied to UOttawa for Fall 2017, how early did you get your admission decision? Is UOttawa infamous for late admission decision? I intend applying for Fall 2018, I don't want to wait for ages to get a decision. Finally how generous are they with finding?

Congrats on the TA issue. If you don't mind, what school and what program are you going for? What aspect of you application do you think made you bag this TA position? Did you make a separate application for the TA position or all applicants to the school are considered?

Congrats again.

Hello bro, since the school won't waive the ESL program for you, I suggest you take another IELTS. This time strive harder to meet the requirements needed. This is a far more cost effective way of handling that, you spend about #75k which cannot be compared with 3500CAD.

Lastly, does this your uncle truly want to sponsor you? Or you just want to use his SOA to get the TRV?

There is another market where I got my things from. Cant remember the name but its after Agbara market but before badagry. Had really good stuffs. I saw trucks unloading there. Heard its the main market for winter stuffs and other sellers across the states buy from them. Cheaper than Yaba. I still use the jackets I got there. I think its once a week market on Tuesdays. Not to sure.
That should be VESPER market, so those people are still there? I thought they have been moved. Things are cheap there as well just like they are at Katagoa

Good morning all

I got an update on my profile yesterday but no changes. This is the second time this update is occurring on my profile. The first update I had, many people on this thread shared testimonies about medicals and TRV the next day and day after. I am not worried but I believe its a sign of testimonies on this thread today or tomorrow.

I therefore declare medical and trv mails for the remaining days of this week.

It's not compulsory but it is necessary so that you will know the stage your application process is.

You get quicker updates when you link it

It's not a must though

Yes every time conditions are specified in an acceptance letter, this leaves you vulnerable to the whims and caprice of a VO. Try and make your application full proof, never leaving any t's uncrossed and i's undotted. Having an unconditional acceptance letter would help much in your case. I think you should pay heed to a previous person who adviced you to get a new admission somewhere cheaper that will even be willing to waive ESL for you. Goodluck
