I read somewhere that Nigerian youths are among the most shortchanged and incapacitated of the youths around the world.

I still want to believe that someone somewhere somehow have benefited from the country even in the light of things now...

Let's pour them out -ve and +ve

oh sh***t I just woke up.

There is nothing to benefit from this bleak country other than free air and sometimes free water, every other thing you have to hustle hard to get them.

I can remember i used some exercise books when i was in Junior secondary school that was distributed free amongst us by the state government in Oyo ( OLIVET).

I never enjoy anything other than that till now, even ordinary beach you go pay money to enter. A good nation suppose protect and provide at all cost. Any free health care?

I had free tuition fee Education in one of the federal universities in Nigeria (this is applicable in all Nigeria fed unis)

Subsidized electricity tarrif, inshort we don't even pay at all during NEPA days


Subsidized petroleum prizes (subsidy)


Scholarship grant in under-G days


NYSC allowance plus free bleeping

Do you think everything you mentioned up there as benefits 'are' or 'is' 'a' really benefits? If so, what then are your basic rights/entitlement as a Nigerian youth?

Did everyone in you age as at that time enjoy the above mentioned benefits?

youre correct, Nigerias government is not a serious government but @ bolded its not the job of the government to provide jobs for you. Most of this advanced nations more than 70% of the employed populations are employed by SMEs. So stop asking the government for job and get out to work for your self

Responsibilities Of A Government In An Economy

Governments are appointed by citizens to manage the affairs of their country. Their responsibilities include:

-Ensuring the security of a state- Government must maintain law and order internally. This is realized through legislation, the court of justice and the police force. Externally the armed forces protect citizens against external threats.


-Protection and general welfare of citizens   - Government is responsible for the general health and education of citizens. Welfare programmes must be provided for those who are very poor and vulnerable.


-Management of the economy – Governments are appointed by citizens to efficiently manage the economy to bring about growth and development. This includes: encouraging local and foreign investment, controlling inflation, maintaining the foreign reserve (NIR), curbing balance of payments deficits and achieving high levels of employment.


-Protecting the environment – Sustaining the environment is important to the well-being of citizens. The only benefit I have got from Nigeria is heavy slaps from some policemen, just because I stood for the truth.

What has Nigeria allowed you do for her? Have you ever reported a crime to the police to see the response you'd get? Have you ever tried saving a dying person you met on the road? Have you tried reporting a crime in an organization? What has Nigeria allowed you do for her?

Everything I got in this country I earned. Any time I think of our government I remember Larken Ross's The Most Dangerous Superstition. In reality our leaders are simply thieves. I don't mean this as a metaphor. I mean that our leaders are literally criminals who we helped in enslaving us.
