Neymar actually had an impact on this team during pre-season games. He complemented Messi's efforts. What Barça needs are players that can fit in the team well with or without Messi cos Messi is getting older and needs lesser work load so is Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and some older players in the team if they want to lift any silverware this season and beyond.
