pazienza: I didn't even read his post thoroughly as he's just doing what a lot of the Igbo haters are doing in this thread- changing the subject in order to avoid actually challenging the premise of this thread. 6 Likes |

pazienza: Between 1964 and 1966 when the coupists struck , TB doubled as the Prime minister and External affairs minster. When was the last time you checked 'cause Awo was already in prison when the coupists struck. In fact the tussle was between TB and Zik when the latter, after the 1964 general election initially refused to invite TB to form a cabinet whilst at the same time imploring the military chiefs to intervene in the imbroglio until he was advised by the chief justice and the military chiefs that their operational power resides with the PM and not the ceremonial President when he finally relented. 3 Likes |

T9ksy: Awo downfall from Grace to grass was via Akintola/Saraduna/Balewa alliance. Zik alliance with SW via AG in UPGA alliance was thwarted by Akintola and Kayode, who aligned themselves and parts of SW with Balewa in NNA alliance. It remains Awolowo who had an axe to grind with Balewa, and it's not surprising that the coup aim as masterminded by Awolowo, had Balewa penciled for elimination. 2 Likes |

Nothing like "Igbo coup" in ademoyega's 'Why we struck' whom was present during the plotting and execution of the coup. Tribalism only crept into it all.... |

Easternmind: So how do you address the number of the people killed then? A lot of people on this thread have mentioned the disproportionate numbers of Igbos that were killed during the coup vs. people of other regions that were killed? 1 Like |
