Bakayoko did alright today considering he has had no preseason and just came out of surgery to play In a formation neither himself nor the club has played before.

Bakayoko was tasked with playing right wing today.

I think he did ok.

Hehe. You know what's funny? Thinking about how bad you will feel when you realise Bakayoko just cost you Ibime's sneakers grin grin

'Eight goals' contribution only' will be doing a merry-go-round in your head then walahi.

Ibime:

We played diamond midfield. Kante and Baka played RCM and LCM. Kante made 3 times more successful passes than Baka, playing the same position. I told you guys months ago that Baka passing is so poor, he will make Kante look like Fabregas. First evidence tendered. My man could not even outpass Courtois.

Bakayoko just had surgery on both his knees and played a full 90 minutes in midweek. He played a full 90 now....against a very tough Tottenham...on their patch.

He has trained only 1 week since last season. I do not expect him to push his body to the max just yet. I don't expect him to be contesting balls and jamming body anyhow.

The koko is that Whoscored say Bakayoko playing out of position on the right wing had a better game than both Eriksen and Dele Alli.

That's a very solid debut for me, especially given the circumstances.

Bros....calm down. It is time for we matic fans to gloat and say I told you so mbok! cheesy

Anyways...ibime may seem harsh with is criticism of babayoko but he didn't just start criticizing him today. He actually said all these things before we bought him. as a matter of fact he didn't want him to start with. same way u guys were on matic case last season even when we win. It shouldn't be taken personal.

I for one I am not comfy with him however I am willing to wait a little longer before I make up my mind about it.

I am sure you were here when we just got rudiger and after a match of his I saw I was on is case till preseason started and since then i have held me peace. I even admitted I may have been quick in judging him here today.

So let ibime be...if babayoko performs well in the future I am sure he will come around if not then it will be I told you so season and you guys will have to deal with it. Shikena cheesy

Thank you so much bro, the bolded right there is the difference between you and him.

I, for one, wasn't happy with the way he played at all, to be honest. Same for Willian and that mumu Morata but then we should give them time to adapt and improve, not everyone will hit the ground running from day 1 like Hazard did.

He has been ranting from pre-season, his rants didn't stop Chelsea from signing Baka, after his first match albeit he was rushed to start, he can't even chill till when he's fit, what exactly does he want?

Just so you know, Cahill has already sealed a spot on the bench.

I never liked Bakayoko since day 1 because I studied his game over the last year and learned he is utterly woeful at controlling and passing the ball. He done land now, and I won't stop talking about it. You should have seen how I hounded Ramires for the same thing on this thread for 5 years.

All this fitness, fitness talk means nothing. Fitness stops you running, not from controlling and passing the ball. Bakayokos running was just fine. What is not acceptable is for a midfielder to make 10 passes in 90 minutes.

EOD.

I doubt if most of our folks here plays football.

Wetin concern ball control and fitness?

Nihilist already knows from that first match that Bakayoko can never win him that sneakers. I knew blood cannot come from stone before I made that bet. If Baka is not careful, he will lose his place to any midfield signing we make in the next week. I cannot see us having a midfield where Kante is asked to be the creator and controller for too long.

Don't understand what you mean...
Chelsea had about 7 defensive players on the field so one shouldn't get carried away. Imagine Luiz was back in defence, one of Rud or Chris out and a more attacking player in the team. Hope Bakayoko, Rud or Chris's deficiencies won't become obvious then. For today they were really covered as everyone had to defend.

See Griffon post below. Ball control and passing has nothing to do with fitness. You either have technique or you don't.

Knee injury is not a fitness issue. And the man just had his two knees operated on. I'm sure he was rushed back to play this game out of desperation and I can bet anything that he played this game with some lingering discomfort.

I'm sure you can appreciate what impact a knee injury can have on the simple task of walking, let alone trapping ball.

And even with that, he still did better than Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen according to Whoscored. Im happy with that debut. It was solid.

@ Ibime, knee injury can turn you to a dumbo with the ball. I am a living witness, i spent a fortune on mine and when i returned to play, i was a shadow of myself. That's why many don't like to have surgery on their knees because if care is not taken, their careers may end abruptly.

I saw him in monaco playing some matches on bandage last season and i want to believe, the injury might have caused some clumsiness i also noticed in his game. Let's see if he will come out stronger.

We actually quarreled about Matic. We did.
And he was shiit especially towards the end of last season.

The board heard our cries and did the needful. That he has been playing fine in Man utd didn't mean he wasn't shitty last season.

All those people criticizing bakayoko are damn funny.... This is his first game coming out of an injury ..not even fully fit in a new league... Not just any league ... The EPL... Common chill! There's bound to be some downplay here and there!.. allow the dude to be fully settled down... He didn't appear in champions league team of the year by jumping up and down.. if this completed pass rate for monaco Doesn't raise your expectations for this dude then... Ion know what you guys may be looking for...

My gee, I've been having knee injury for 12 or 13 years now. Trust me, a professional footballer does not even enter training unless he can turn on the knee, not to talk of being allowed to play a match. Where knee injury affects your touch is when you receive the ball and spin on half-turn. He would not be allowed back into training if he could not spin left or right. Furthermore, Bakayokos touch has been highlighted long before his knee injury. He had bad touch before the injury.

Conte - Bakayoko Perfomance was Amazing

It was the first game for Bakayoko. Don’t forget that at some point I was a player and sometimes the motivation makes you get over your physical condition,’ the Italian said after the win.

‘[Playing in] a great stadium, [against] a great opponent [with] a great atmosphere, I think it’s good.

‘He worked a lot in these last ten days, for sure I saw a lot of improvement – otherwise it was very difficult for me to start him.

‘He had an amazing performance
but for sure he can improve. He needs to adapt to our style of football.’

Tell us the average number of passes he made per match, let's compare to other midfielders. That percentage you quoted is the average for a midfielder, and I saw all those passes. In summary, Bakayoko used to make 40 passes a match at Monaco, 35 of them back to his defenders with no one around him That's where he got that percentage from. Normal midfielders make 50-70 passes, and more adventurous passes. Bakayoko will not even attempt a pass through midfield unless road done clear.

Except that this isn't a flaw we just noticed today, we raised the alarm even before Chelsea got linked to this guy.

Griffon:
With Bakayoko joining, I honestly would expect our team technique to go weak in sustaining possession passing. So the idea would be to stay compact, get to soak the pressure, find the attackers with the long ball and let them smash the damn net!

We are building a team that's going to be difficult to beat both in England and Europe.

Ibime:
Griffon please keep eyes on Bakayoko and tell me what you think.

Griffon:

He was born for the break-up play, has the needed brawn to intimidate any player but the technical aspect of his game is quite suspect.

His ball control is a tad poor, not top class for a pro, he exposes the ball a lot. Then his vision is on the average too.

IMHO, I think his two biggest problems are maintaining composure when placed under pressure and indecision.

Before he receives the ball, he doesn't have his head up. He is always looking at the ball and as result of this, he fails to analyze the field quickly. When the ball eventually gets to him, he is already lost, get two men on him and I'll bet my testicles that he'd lose the ball. That clearly played out in Juve's second goal lastnite.

We don't need this nigga, he is scared of playing football. It's not always about the muscles, being technically adept matters too.

Ibime:
Oh God, Bakayoko is awful.

Please, please, please. I beg the powers at Chelsea not to even consider this guy. He even makes trapping the ball look like rocket science.

Ibime:
Whoever said Chelsea should sign Bakayoko should get a konk on the head.

I have better technique than him. I would rather bring any agbero from Naija league than go for this clown.

Please we should not make this expensive mistake.

So baba Nihilist, the handwriting was on the wall even before your lad went under the knife.

I don't know if you have the nigga's digits, but just in case you do, tell him to avoid these problems:

Problem 1 – Ball path has been misread and he missed the pass.

Problem 2 – Being indecisive when choosing controlling body surface.

Problem 3 – Does not get the ball out of his feet and needs a second touch.

Problem 4 – The ball bounces off his boots and control is lost.
