The first comment absolutely nailed it. I was disappointed when I listened to words like "the nation's unity is non negotiable" and blablabla. I was expecting words like "I'm sorry for my long absence and I hope we can now move forward to address the issue on ground and find lasting solutions to agitations unsettling the country"...

Instead he went on to give the same stereotypical speech that gave impetus to the agitations in the first place. I wonder who writes his speecheshuh

Missed opportunity to calm frayed nerves, engender peace and mend fences. This is a man who just escaped from the claws of serious illness and whose actions, comments and inactions plunged the nation to it's divisions and disunity.
Buhari I am one of your supporters but with the speech I heard this morning , you lack wisdom of your age, understanding of the times you live in and you are the greater agent of the agitations springing up around the nation.

Lets imagine a Buhari first apologizing for being away from duty all this while, then providing clarity on the many questions Nigerians are asking pertaining to his health, then also using this golden opportunity to preach peace and unity devoid of forceful and pained intonations and even if its in pretence assure all of his support for the current unanimous call for a change in direction of the nations affairs. These would have gone a long way in changing perceptions and reduce tensions in the polity. Instead he was pretty much occupied issuing threats and shutting down all avenues for a national discourse and negotiations on the nations most pressing issue at the moment.

Nothing Buhari does will ever satisfy some people. If he does not talk, they will complain; if he talks, they will still complain. I believe Buhari should know this already and leave them to their folly.

Shut up........... this country does not belong to Hausa neither Igbos. Everything is always centered around these 2 tribes that are taking us down.

He doesn't need to beg igbos or promise kanu chicken. I dont see any missed opportunity.

You just spoke my mind. Buhari lacks the wisdom and qualities of a leader. He doesn't see himself as the father of nigerians irrespective of age. He addresed the nation as a despotic tyrant rather than a leader. And he was godded to read this trash, then it simply vindicated my opinion of him as a man without his own mind.
He came back to add fuel to the fire of discord and disunity he stupidly ignited.
Rather than douce tensions, he has only succeeded in emboldening the zeal for disintegration.

What else do you want? He asked for peace and mentioned a respect for everyone's rights to live anywhere within Nigeria. What else do you want to hear? Apologies for falling sick? Even if Buhari was a great orator like Obama, people like you will still complain.

absolutely correct, am sure the dullard who is a supposed president of Africa is not even aware of the recent happenings in Nigeria ,he was just programmed like a robot to read an already prepared speech of course for the gullible supporters and those who are the originators of hate speech.
let me use this opportunity to welcome the cabals back to Nigeria and also remind them that we remain resolute in demanding justice and what is right.
And demand it without relenting. He has further encouraged agitators in their causes of action. Nigeria must break in pieces.

The truth is that nobody can and will ever pleased the world.

Buhari returned home after his first medical trip without making a Nationwide speech, people were busy complaining.

Now that he decided to open a new leaf, Madam 'I too know' is complaining again.

If Jesus Chtist could be criticized, who is Buhari to please the Nigerians?

Personally, I think Buhari has done well for the 6 minutes broadcast.

At least, Fayose can not rant again about his famous "Life support" tales while FFK will keep quiet for the time being.
'Done well" for nincompoops and sychophants.

Hmmm it's really a pity we have gotten to this. Not even withstanding the fact the speech was recorded, it was devoured of any clue this man knows the situation his country is in. Being away for like ages is not enough reason for this sick man to apologize for his long absence? Why is he so unapologetic? No update on his ailing health, no redefined roadmap to getting us out of this mess, no talk to calm the nerves of the striking lecturers, and many other pressing issues. All that were there in were threats and threats as usual. Threats that never achieved anything since he came into power. And still calling bokoharam strikes as soft target was the height of his insensitivity and lack of human conscience. Shah, people deserve the kind of leadership they get. But this man should do over 180m Nigerians a collective favour; resign on the bases of cluelesness and ailing health. He's a chronic failure
We already know that meetings have been held and negotiations are being made between the FG and the lecturers. If Buhari touched the issues, it would be to make promises of ending the strike as soon as possible. The eviction threat is the most pressing and the president has addressed it. Let him get back to work.

Buhari makes worse hate speech ever in his broadcast to use security forces to bend secessionists, instead of political restructuring. Even Britain that created Nigeria restructures its polity frequently till today to undermine secessionists.

Ok, we shall see, shan't we ? Only a matter of time. I'm certain his subsequent actions as a "true leader" will break this country apart. Please save this for future reference.
He and his cabal are nothing compared to the leaders if the USSR, Yogoslavia, Apartheid S. Africa, etc. They will learn the hard way.

All this government knows is to force people to remain together by the barrel of the gun, instead of working on the cause of the agitation...

Like she said...Buhari action and inactions are the main cause of the agitations...

It is good to note that he kind of, agreed, that there are issues...

This is not to deny that there are legitimate concerns. Every group has a grievance. But the beauty and attraction of a federation is that it allows different groups to air their grievances and work out a mode of co-existence. Buhari

He had the opportunity to correct those legitimate concerns, but he didn't do anything about them.

I don't see what wrong he did? He is the president and needs to protect the constitution. There is no law in the country that allows any part of the country to break up. That means the unity of the country is not negotiable. If the Igbos want to leave, then Buhari is not their enemy. Only the NASS can modify the constitution to include a referendum.

Abraham Lincoln fought to keep America together. No president would want the country to break up under his watch. If the Igbos were being maltreated, it would be a different case but this case of asking for a referendum is just mischievous and pushed by their hate for Buhari. When they had the two most powerful people in GEJ's cabinet, we didn't hear any noise.

Once again, if they want to leave, they should take their protests to the NASS. Buhari does not have the power to amend the constitution. He can only uphold it.
