Tell us about your collection?
It’s an Africa brand, celebrating African culture through our designs, which is different from the normal conventional attires. The colour combination is unique, you can easily recognize it from a far, because of the creativity in it. That’s why we are unique. It’s an urbanized African design, infused with rich and true African nature
How long have been you on it, and so far, what has been the acceptability?
We have been on it for more than 3 years, and so far, the acceptability is high. That’s the motivation, because people love our concept of designs. We have not experienced any negative comment from our clients, rather, get more patronage. People love it, and they always come back.
Tell us your celebrities clients?
A lot of celebrities are my clients. We have used our products for videos and presently, we are using it for more videos. It was worn for the Iyanya’s Kukere video, MayD’s Ile-Ijo, among others. I cloth many celebrities such as 2Face, Psquare, Don-Jazzy, Dbanj, Chidinmi, Jimmy Jatt, among others. Even Akon.
How affordable are your products?
They are very affordable for the layman, not only celebrities. It depends on the designs. From N5000 – N10, 000 and upwards.
What is the joy of doing this?
Joy, everybody love it, that’s the joy. When you do things that people love, you’ll be excited about it. That’s the joy. We are creative minded people, and we are almost done with our outlets, that’s a commendable achievement. Due to popular demand, we now have online stores with Konga, Jumia and Bayam, and more are still coming. We have opened more outlets where the wears can easily be purchased.
Our Lagos store is at Ikota Shopping Complex, VGC. We also have outlets in Calabar and Ibadan, while wholesalers and retailers are also welcome.
What are the challenges?
Anything that’s unique, different is always difficult to come up with. We think to come up with designs that our clients would love, at times, it’s very challenging. But, we thank God, we have always overcome our challenges.
What inspired the name, Ajeh and where are you taking your brand to?
‘Ajeh’ is coined from the word ‘Ajehbuttah,’ meaning born with a golden spoon.

Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical Company Limited, BFPCL, has closed a $6 billion deal with BP Oil International limited, London. This deal gives BP Oil the exclusive right to buy all the methanol that will be produced from phase 1 of the project; and will run for 10 years.

The contract was recently signed at BP office in London, and is key to securing financing from lenders and investors. It will lead to a financial closure of the project.

According to Chief Ben Okoye, Vice chairman of BFPCL, the methanol plant will create 20,000 jobs for the host community. There will be 15,000 indirect jobs during construction and 5,000 direct jobs on completion.

BFPCL has already signed a gas purchase contract for 300 mmscf/d from Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, for 25 years.

The cost of this project is expected to be about $6 billion and construction will be in two phases.

PHASE 1

The first phase of this project is scheduled for completion in 2020, and will produce 1.66 million metric tonnes (MT) of ethanol; and 1.3 million metric tonnes of Urea per annum. A dedicated exports Jetty and a 300 mmscf/d gas processing plant will also be part of this phase. The project will generate an annual turnover of $1.5 billion.

PHASE 2

The second Phase of this project will commence five years after phase 1. It will cost $ 1 billion to build; and will double the company’s urea capacity with a second production unit of 1.3 million metric tonnes per annum.

Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical company project is in Brass, Bayelsa State. The company is very strategic to Nigeria’s economy; and it will help the country achieve self sufficiency in fertilizer and methanol production.

The company has expressed gratitude to the Federal Government of Nigeria(FGN) for the tremendous support. Its also extends same gratitude to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and project developers.

PROFESSOR AMAGH NDUKA, Africa’s finest in Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics.

Born in Amankalu, Igbere, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, he attended Igbere Primary School and Hope Waddle Training Institution (Calabar) for his primary and secondary school education respectively. And through an American scholarship, he proceeded to the Western world, where he obtained Bachelor of Science degree (University of California, Berkerly, 1965); Masters of Science (Stanford University, 1967), and Doctorate degree in physics, under the supervision of Physics Nobel Laureate – Professor Subramanyan Chandrasekhar (University of Chicago, 1971).

Professor Nduka, who could not stand the colour discrimination in the West, against the wish of his teachers and colleagues, returned to Nigeria in 1974. Hejoined the services of the University of Ife as a Senior Lecturer in Physics (1974-81) before transferring to the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, as the Pioneer Professor in the Department of Physics and Mathematics. Some of his career experiences are summarized: Research Scientist, U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, the Enrico Fermi Institute, Batavbia III USA (1970-71); Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign USA (1971-74); Senior Lecturer in Physics, University of Ife (1974-81); Professor of Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (1981-date); Visiting Senior Scientist, University of California, Berkley (1983); Visiting Senior Scientist, California Institute of Technology, Pasedena, California (1983); Visiting Senior Scientist, University of Chicago, Chicago III (1983); Visiting Senior Scientist, International Centre of Theoretical Physics, Triester, Italy (1982-83); Visiting Senior Scientist, Columbia University, New York (1985); Visiting Senior Scientist, International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna, Austria (1985); Senior Traveling Fellow, Association of Commonwealth Universities (1985), and a host of others.

A former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (1987-91), Professor Nduka holds two professorships – one in Theoretical Physics and another in Applied Mathematics. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (1986), as well as a Member Emeritus of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the American Physical Society (APS). He has published in leading journals in Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics. In fact, two of his recent works published in Applied Mathematics (The Geometrical Theory of Science, November 2012 and The Neutrino Mass, February 2013) earned him the Google Scholar of the year for 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Professor Nduka has made many outstanding contributions to science. Most profound is his theory: The Absolute Theory of Science. This theory subsumes all other theories in science, including his Third Revolution Theory in Science after the order of Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein (i.e. first and second revolution respectively). This theory, the absolute theory of science, explains (theoretically and mathematically) nuclear physics, atomic physics, boson physics, nuclear fussion, astrophysics and elementary particle physics – areas of physics which its theorization has since the 1920’s remained static. The theory also provides, for the first time ever, explanations to boson and fermio-boson physics – areas which have eluded physicists since the inception of physical enquiry.

He has also created an entirely new mathematics called discrete geometry or quantum mathematics, with which arsenal he made yet another striking contribution by giving a formal theoretical calculation of the mass of the neutrino – one of the most controversial in particle physics.

Recently, Professor Nduka, in a paper The Geometrical Theory of the Structure of Nuclei, Atoms and Molecules published in Applied Mathematics (August 2014) unlocked another black-box in the understanding of the atom. In this paper, he gave a formal theory to the treatment of many-electron atoms, an area where the available treatment methods, the Schrondinger and Dirac based approximation methods, have failed to yield correct results. With this, Professor Nduka solved the riddle for which his colleagues in atomic, nuclear and particle physics could not.

Apart from the above contributions, Professor Nduka has also developed a very bold and challenging perspective on earthquake and global warming – two of the most well-documented natural phenomena whose origins are yet to be fully understood. His perspective overwhelmingly flawed the claim of environmental scientists that change in the atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations is the sole cause of global warming, but attributed ultra high energy machines, such as particle accelerators operating in the terra energy range, as the cause of global warming and incessant earthquakes of great vehemence. Such machines, he said, serve as earth’s secondary source of energy and they are the drivers of ultra high energy nuclear reactions here on earth similar in magnitude to those occurring in the sun and stars.

A highly sought-after scientist, his only reason for still being in the country is because of the love he has for Nigeria, for having invested so much in his education. More so, he wants to prove to the West that Africans are good, respective of where they are – be it in a Nigerian or American university. In fact, while commenting on his contributions to science, he said, “If I were to be in the US, with all these things I’m doing here in Nigeria (referring to his works), I would have won three Nobel Prizes in Science”. The question is: why has this professor not won a Nobel Prize in science? The Royal Swedish Academy of Science, I think, owes Nigerians and Africa at large, some explanations.

Professor Amagh Nduka, who has been a Professor for 35 years, is still a Professor of Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.

The Nigerian Entrepreneur Who Built A $10 Million Toy Company

Paul Orajiaka, a 37 year-old Nigerian entrepreneur, is the founder of Auldon Limited, a manufacturer of African-themed toys. Auldon manufactures dolls and other toys which depict, promote and teach Africa’s cultural heritage to children. Orajiaka founded the company 17 years ago with less than $100; it now has annual revenues of more than $10 million.

Apart from Nigeria, Auldon’s toys are now sought after in countries like South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, and some parts of Europe. Last year, Auldon launched the Unity Girl Dolls, a set of multi-cultural dolls clad in the traditional attires of Nigeria's major ethnic groups. It has been a runaway success and a tremendous hit among Nigerian parents and their daughters.

Orajiaka is currently studying for a Doctorate in Business Administration [DBA] at Henley Business School of the University of Reading, majoring in Entrepreneurship. I recently had a chat with him where he recounted his journey and spoke about his future plans.

Why did you decide to venture into manufacturing African-themed toys?

I grew up in Warri in Southern Nigeria, and I did my secondary school education in Benin state. I recall that immediately after my secondary school education at Igbinedion Secondary School, Benin City, my sole ambition was to travel to the United States to seek the proverbial greener pastures. I never exactly planned to venture into the toy business. I was 18 at the time and determined to leave Nigerian at all costs. So, along with my friends, I made countless unfruitful trips to the American embassy in pursuit of an American visa. Eventually, all my friends were given visas, except me.

Naturally, I became dejected and ashamed. I had no clue as to what my next line of action was going to be. So I decided to stay back in Lagos and not return to my hometown where I would be mocked by my friends. You see, a lot of shame was attached to my disappointment at that time, being the only one out of all my friends who was denied an opportunity to go the U.S. So I decided that the only way out for me was to stay back in Lagos and work with my in-law in Idumota market and that is how that reluctant step taken out of frustration ended up becoming my glorious journey to success and fulfillment.

conducting airstrikes against the insurgents.
"The ingenious effort by IVM is instrumental to the continued
operation of the Alpha Jets," NAF spokesperson Ayodele

But for Nigeria's first car manufacturer, the crisis may represent an opportunity. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) recently announced a partnership deal with Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), which will see the company supply spare parts for jets conducting airstrikes against the insurgents. "The ingenious effort by IVM is instrumental to the continued operation of the Alpha Jets," NAF spokesperson Ayodele Famuyiwa said of the deal. "IVM helped to save the day when help was not forthcoming from abroad." The deal was struck after a series of site visits around the country. "The army came to our factories in many states," says Innoson spokesperson Cornel Osigwe. "They saw we had the capacity." The offshoot company now employs over 7,000 people and has capacity to produce 10,000 cars a year. It is hoped that the partnership with NAF could help the business expand further. "The attention is providing a big boost for the company," says Osigwe. Innoson has gained several new clients since the deal, according to the spokesperson, including the National Assembly . Leading politicians such as Senator Ben Murray- Bruce have offered strong support.

Integrated oil and gas Owned by Captain Iheanacho

By Godfrey Bivbere & Sebastine Obasi An indigenous company, Integrated Oil and Gas Ltd., has been given initial license to commence preliminary work for a 20,000 capacity modular refinery in one of the islands on the coast of Lagos.

The refinery is expected to gulp between $75 – $250 million, Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the company, Capt. Emmaneul Ihenacho, said. Ihenacho, who stated this in Lagos yesterday, said that his company has gotten preliminary approval from the Department of Petroleum Resourses, DPR, and has commenced work on the Environmental Impact Assessment, EIA. He explained that the company is working on other necessary requirements needed before the final approval for the refinery can be granted. He described the process leading to the final licensing for the project as a “continuous” one which is given in stages, saying that he intends to get funding for the project from both foreign and local banks. According to him, “If you go to the DPR website you will see all the terms and conditions for granting of refinery licenses. The DPR gives you license in stages, it gives you license to establish, license to construct and after that it gives you license to operate. “DPR would not sit down and say let us go and do an EIA and after that they will give you license. They give you license based on the technology that is used for refining and your ability to give then very good presentation on that subject before they say alright go and start it.” He also noted if the refinery is constructed without the capacity to produce Petroleum Motor Spirit, PMS, Automated Gas Oil, AGO and the like, the cost would be around $75 million (N25.8 billion), whereas if those components are included, the cost would be around $200 million (N69 billion). Ihenacho also said that several meetings have been held between the company’s management and the traditional rulers (about 16 Baales) around the area, with a view to having the consent of the host communities.
