Political activities in Akwa Ibom State are already gaining momentum ahead of the 2017 local Government and ward elections across the state within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). For instance, all the gladiators in state’s politics are smarting up for the contest. From what Niger Delta reporters have gathered so far, forces loyal to Governor Emmanuel Udom are already playing dirty as against the master’s (Governor) wish. One Mr. Timothy Ben Eshiet, a native of Ekpok Etuk Udo in Nnung Ebienang in Ikwe ward, out of personal lust for the title of ‘Honourable’ is doing everything within his power to buy off the Councillorship position for the ward against the wishes of the people. Reports reaching us claims that a huge amount up to the tune of 7million has exchange hands so far between these elders of the land; Elder Ezekiel Umoh, (Permanent Secretary of SUBEB) Ekpeyo (Bostic) (Vice Chapter Chairman of PDP), Akpan Inyang Attah, Paul Sunday John, Ekam Tobby (Party Ward Chairman) and Ekpokpeyo (President of Ebienang Atek Clan Council). Expectedly, many of top rank citizens in the community are already divided along the lines and there is currently serious panic as the youths are filling out with dangerous tools and causing a pause to activities in the town. The bone of contention here is that Elder Ezekiel Umoh, (Permanent Secretary of SUBEB) told the community that the Councillorship seat is for the poor youths of the community and the likely candidate must be from a family that has not had a councilor before nor in recent times, but right now, Mr Timothy Ben Eshiet is from a wealthy home, his Family has had a councilor in the ward before in the person of Hon. Charles Uwa. The said Mr Timothy Ben Eshiet owns properties all over the country. But I wont bore you with that, except but only a few; Multi-Label Boutique,10 Grace Bill Road, Eket. Akwa Ibom State Meritt International School, Eket. Akwa ibom State. Owns more than 2 toyota hilux buses in a transport company in Lagos. Living in a luxurious Duplex mansion in Eket. So after Elder Ezekiel Umoh told the youths that the councillorship position is for the poor/emerging youth in the area, Is Mr Timothy Ben Eshiet a poor person? Why would Hon. Ezekiel Umoh, a civil servant in the state go behind the youths to collect the huge amount of 7million naira. Is he honest at all? The youths are saying that they don’t want him as the Political leader of the community again. Please we beg with the Governor of our state, Mr Emmanuel Udom to weight into this matter and oversee, or if possible stop the mock elections ongoing right now in Ikwe town because the youths are grieving and are gearing up to cause havoc in the area. The youths are saying that they don’t need Mr Timothy Ben Eshiet as their Councillor and also, they don’t need Elder Ezekiel Umoh as their Political Leader again. 2017 local government elections beckons, All eyes are watching the PDP conduct elections in the state, but be sure that Ekwe community in Onna local Government Area is sitting on a political time bomb waiting to be detonated. Please do something our amiable Governor. From a Concern Reporter in Ikwe, Onna LGA. Akwa Ibom State Source: http://nigerdeltaent.info/?p=20817
