Would have been so good if Oyo state can take a clue and tap into its close proximity with Lagos!

I always say it, Oyo state is messing up.

A country where there is only one functional seaport

Lagos

Most functional International Airport

Lagos

There is a functional international Airport in the north

There is not a functional seaport or an International Airport in the south east and South south as a whole

Tell me why wouldn't the south east nd south south complain

Nigeria is a Joke...
Why can't this stupid country develop Ports in Calabar, Warri, Port Harcourt and the Cargo Port in Gelegele, Edo State?

Everything has been over-concentrated in Lagos for a long time.

Towns with a vibrant sea port tend to attract businesses

I'm not surprised that Abia State is the first to be mentioned on the list of states that could not attract any single investment. All the roads in the state have totally collapsed without any sign of possible reconstructions. We are really suffering in Aba.

I doubt this report. What comprises investment? If it is any asset that produces income then this report is false. I have seen shopping malls springing up in Kaduna and Imo just between January and now and they say no new investment.
LMAO @ the bolded..... I'm presently in Imo State, Owerri to be precised and there's absolutely no new investment here and calling Shopping malls investment is a joke of the century

The world is steadily moving on from 'oyel'. undecided An enabling environment and right policies are very critical to attracting fdi.
60% of all investment to Nigeria is energy or power related. And 99% of all investments go to Lagos, as it is the financial services centre of Nigeria. The Mega billions headed for egina, usan , bong a and gas ipp projects are all transacted with Lagos banks. Much like North Sea projects are done thru London financial institutions and not stavanger or Aberdeen.

That is where I am pissed with ND governors. It is not that oil is gonna stop being relevant (as all military activity and air transport relies on it ) but that where the business is conducted doesn't have to be where the resource is located. That's what tinubu and co get that the local champions in ND seem to not.

Take for example nnpc's fundraising round of close to 4 billion earlier this year. All that will pass thru
Lagos. It will show on Lagos metrics and no where else. I'm a niger deltan but I have to give it to the SW guys for holding it down , business-wise. Until leadership changes elsewhere in this country only Lagos and perhaps Ogun will feature well on such lists.

You have spoken well. At the moment, there are up to 20 new companies under construction at agbara and sagamu-siun axis as I am speaking. Once they get completed, it would be in the record in terms of new investments in the state.

Akwa Ibom did well because they have the largest oil reserve in Nigeria, case of good security and a performing.

It's a show of shame that rivers and anambra state are not in the list
Rivers State Has An Investment Worth $500,000.Pls Read Well!

you will know nigeria is wrong if 31 of its state aka 85% cant attract investments
Re: H2 Report: 31 States Fail To Attract Fresh Investments by Bobnotrouble: 11:00am On Aug 29, 2017
Benekruku:
"The states that got new investments are Lagos State, which attracted the highest amount of $2.6bn during the six months period, followed by Akwa Ibom with $52.44m.

The Federal Capital Territory followed with $31.51m while Ogun State attracted fresh investment inflows of $5.31m; Oyo had $5.25m, and Rivers recorded $550,000 of investments."

At this pace, Its glaring beyond all doubts that Ogun state is the next big thing to happen to Nigeria. Ogun is rising at a very fast pace which I believe is because of its close proximity to Lagos.

Would have been so good if Oyo state can take a clue and tap into its close proximity with Lagos!

Don't forget to give credit to the Ogun state Governor.
Remember, Ogun state has been a neighboring state to Lagos all these-while.

You made a good point. Besides, the report didn't capture the bigger picture. E.g, the manufacturing sector is also a huge FDI magnet, as the excerpt below shows:

http://leadership.ng/2017/08/11/nigerias-manufacturing-investment-hits-n3-7trn-3-years/

Nigeria’s Manufacturing Investment Hits N3.7trn In 3 Years

...In addition, data generated from MAN survey also showed that 69.9 per cent of total manufacturing investment in the review period, which stood at N448.94 billion, went to Ogun; thus retaining the zone as the investment haven of the nation.

Breakdown revealed that investment in Ogun increased to N313.62 billion in the review period from N302.26 billion of the corresponding half of 2015; indicating N11.36 billion increase over the period. It also increased by N259.07 billion when compared with N54.55 billion recorded in the preceding half.

[quote author=Omofunaab2 post=59926479]Wow, Three Yoruba States, Lagos, Oyo and Ogun

Stats being released keeps pointing to Economic development and growth in Yorubaland whereas the five villages in the Eastern part of the country failed to attract any form of investment inflows.... Well it's okay sha

Fake statistics, how abt for the past 2 yrs, Anambra attracted 2.1 B USD FDI, other states inclusive, so even kebbi that commissioned biggest fertilizer plant few weeks ago, how about Edo that commissioned their own nko, how abt Kaduna, fake statistics

I'm quite impressed with Akwa Ibom, Ogun and Oyo can still do better
[/quote

Fake statistics , why not do for the last 2 yrs, Anambra attracted 2.1B USD in FDI, how abt kebbi with the recently commissioned fertilizer plant the biggest in west africa, how abt Edo with their own fertilizer plant, Kaduna, like I said fake statistics, 6months is too short

the yoruba states keep on doing fine, yet tribal bigots keep calling them afonja, skull miners and other delogatory names, as if criminality has a tribe. its only friendly environment & bearable social security that attracts pronounced fdi, not online propagandas.

Definitely! Am quite aware how the Governor and present Minister of Finance overhauled and steered the state on-couse.

No doubt! Amosu really tried considering Ogun state land-mass but a lot still needs to be done.
