Is There Hope For Nigeria? by sunnyp20(op): 11:24pm On Sep 07, 2017
Just a few days ago I was engaged in a lengthy conversation with a friend about the prospects for our dear nation Nigeria and it beggars belief that our youths have completely lost faith in the future of this country and I don't even know where to lay the blame anymore. He told me that the slightest chance he got,he is leaving this country no matter what odds he encounters outside. He prefers to suffer in a country that isn't his rather than continue believing in a country that isn't worth believing in.No matter how hard I tried to convince him there is still respite for us, the more fiercely he argued on. The disheartening thing is that he provided me with compelling postulations as to why our future is bleak. From the gross ineptitude of our leaders to the abysmal nonchalance of the followers. From the Book Haram menace to the unending agitations of the Niger Deltans and Also the rampaging Fulani herdsmen. He concluded that the worst of it is that our economy is growing only on paper without any trickle down effect on the populace. When he spoke I listened with rapt attention trying to puncture holes in his argument but the more I tried the more difficult a job it turned out to be. I wouldn't go as far as saying I ve lost all hope for this great nation but something fundamental needs to change so a lot of us would feel proud to be called Nigerians. This little poem I wrote a while ago best captures my mood right now. Its titled Tears

I weep for a country
Where to live is to die
Where in death comes freedom
A country lost to time
Yet pride itself in foolishness

I weep for a country
Where happiness is leisure
The citizens cannot afford
A country continually raped
By the greed of her leaders

My heart rents in agony
My soul wallops in pain
For the future of my country
A future so dark and bleak
Where hope is but an illusion

Over fifty years ago
A cry was heralded
A journey to freedom was taken
With no price freedom came
Obliviously we strode into abyss

With freedom we craved slavery
Every forward stride led us
Backwards into the dungeon
That held us down for long
But in our greed we marched on

What happened to the promises
Of a brighter future for all
What happened to the pride
We once felt for Nigeria
I weep for my country

Arise fellow compatriots
Awake from our slumber
The time has come to stop weeping
And save our motherland
From the evil that lurks within.

No need wailing again... not much can be done because it's a mentality problem, remember the story about the goat tied to a tree? Hope you do. Just focus on self dev. That's all smiley

Yeah i think it could be looked at as mentality problem. I think something is fundamentally wrong with our thought process.

Yes, there is.

There are living beings in Nigeria so there is hope. No matter how bad it appears, a day will come everyone would get fed up and begin to do things the way they ought to be done.
Second option, maybe an asteroid will land here and we start afresh to right all the wrongs.....this one, a painful one though

I am Igbo too but it doesn't mean we can't love or hope for the best for our dear country.

Nigeria is like Nineveh

it seems so to be me but i have since realised that no force or military in the whole universe can stop an idea whose time has come.

Not even the red army could stop the disintegration of Soviet Union into several republics, the Roman Army which was responsible for the assasination / crucifixion of the Son of God Jesus Christ could not stop the disintegration of Rome.

I hate Nnamdi Kanu with a passion and i cannot stand his presence but his message and audacity is something i cant help but admire.
If God is on his side , just forget it there is nothing absolute the Nigerian Army with their helpers in Egypt(The bible even cursed those that go to Egypt for Help. Isaiah 31.1) , Britain, Russia , Chad , Niger Republic etc can do.

Woe betide Nigeria the day Tompolo will declare his support for Biafra !!!!@@@

Tompolos support will be a game changer particularly if the military continues the use of force on hapless , unarmed ipobs.

Not that i support a break down of law and order as the children and women will be victims as usual when the Government in their cruel and satanic ways decide to use non combatant means of farm sabotage , blockage of medicine to fight a combatant war like they did in 1967 when a little unknow biafran forces inflicted deep and havy casualties on them.
