Exactly what I am saying. There is a difference in communicating well and one party being stubborn. No effective communication and drive home a stubborn person because he/she is already clouded by selfishness. Details of how he communicated weren't in the post but you assumed it.

Nope. I wish to differ. Abstaining from sex in this case is still based on the condition of consent("...except it be with consent..." .If one of the parties does not consent to ur abstinence, then you"ll have to do the needful.That's why the Bible first talked about both husband and wife not having power over their bodies but their partner.

What you quote actually means that couple must agree to abstain from sex during fasting.
If the agreement is not reached either husband or wife will not be able to fast. That mutual agreement is crucial. That is why you and spouse should share same faith and belief then it is easy to understand each other.
