IF GOD can send down fire from heaven because Elijah asked of it,, what makes you think he cant send down spiritual fire, when the children of GOD ask for it? Afterall it is written in the scriptures that when we ask, we shall receive..

We are talking about the Holy Spirit in person here...they called down fire and not the 'fire of the Holy Ghost'

the bible described God as a consuming fire in Hebrew 12:29:

"for our God is a consuming fire"

fire has been a symbol of God judgement against the wicked many times in the bible. the holy spirit is like a fire ,He bring God presence , In the Old Testament, God showed His presence to the Israelites by overspreading the tabernacle with fire (Numbers 9:14-15 ).
