Obasanjo’s Advice On Kanu, Personal Opinion - Presidency by iamjayboss(op): 6:28am On Sep 17, 2017
The Presidency has said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent comment on the Biafran agitation is his opinion.

Obasanjo was reported on Friday to have advised Buhari to invite IPOB leaders for negotiations.

When asked on Saturday if Buhari would heed Obasanjo’s advice, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Obasanjo’s comment was not a law or a rule.

He said, “It is an opinion that he has proffered and when you proffer an opinion, it is not a law or a rule. It is now left for the person who was given the advice to consider it.”

I don't like Kanu but if he is open to negotiation, then federal government should negotiate with him. Even after the brutal civil war, Ojukwu was still pardoned and allowed to contest for the highest office in the country. Ostracizing Kanu and his group at this point in time will only push them to take more extreme position.

I don't know the strategy behind the military intervention but in the end, it should aim at bringing Kanu and ipob to the negotiating table. Discussion is inevitable no matter how we look at it.

I don't like you. You don't have any integrity or enduring principles. I bet you can't tie my shoe laces in real life but you think yourself as important. I spit on you.

Ojukwu case was different.

Nnamdi Kanu is a terrorist, you can't bring such a man that spill bile and hate to the table. To discuss what? To negotiate what? It is because this country has been used to pampering troublemakers and elevating them to heroic status that is why you see different riffraffs springing up from different direction in search of fortune and fame after committing atrocities.

Let Kanu do his worst

The same Thief O. used troops to raised down an massacre 2 entire communities in Odi and Zaki Biam.

The same Thief O. in this short 14 sec video clip from 1999 ordering members of OPC to be arrested or shot on sight.

Thief Obasanjo and dialogue grin . He was likely being sacarstic, because PMB is being to tolerant of Kanu and his IPOD. grin right?

Then again Thief O. is a well known to be an imperialist stooge or agent, so not surprising he should support negotiations with the imperialist sponsored Kanu and his group of IPOD rascals.

Biafra agitation is more than Nnamdi Kanu. Take KANU out today and another person will rise up and lead the struggle. We have to sit together with KANU and other Igbo leaders to discuss how to end the agitation once and for all. We can never stop engaging with each other in a very diverse country like Nigeria.

Even America that started the "we don't negotiate with terrorist" mantra is now exploring the possibility of negotiating with Taliban in Afghanistan.

Like I said earlier, ostracizing Kanu and his group at this point in time will only push them to take more extreme position. Boko haram founder, Mohammed was killed in 2009 and the sect was seriously decapitated, Shekau and the remaining remnants went underground and resurfaced with brutal force in 2011. Since then, we have not been able to defeat them fully. So I say again, if Kanu is willing to negotiate, the federal government should hear him out. Let them not push him and his group to go underground.

Biafra wasn't proscribed, it is an ideology and you can't proscribe an ideology. Not all Biafra apologists are IPOB...

IPOB is a group, a terrorist group led by Kanu. Let Kanu and IPOB do their worst!!! Enough of rewarding criminals and terrorists!!! Look at Niger Delta, the government rewarded the first generation of economic terrorists/militants but it only encouraged more people to enter that line of "trade". Today, you have riffraffs who take up arms to cause havoc and expect reward in the name of Amnesty and negotiation.

The Army is ready for them... If I was C-in-C or COAS, I'd have long dealt with all the troublemakers.

While it is good to follow the path of peace, I completely agree with you on this.

Kanu should be tried and not pampered. If after the trial his is found innocent, he can go home a free man and if there is any damage(s) he suffered, such should be made good.

If the govt heeds this advice, Godson or whatever his name is, would takeover and probably do worst.

It is very dangerous if the govt could be taking for ride!
