There is nothing like negative marking. What you do is what you get. Stay tuned to my post before the Post-UTME to share you some experience of mine and useful tips. But before then, start reading like it is your last and praying like it is your first.

Okay bro. It's not something of a hidden agenda or hard stuff. This is it, when I did the last Post-UTME, we downloaded the Practice Question. Many intelligent student read as much as they could, which is normal for anyone who wants to gain admission into UI. But with the practice Question, UI did something funny. Almost 90% of the questions came out, especially Use-of-English. Synonyms and Antonyms, I can recall very well.

Many of us crammed the questions and answers in our head and being enthusiastic in the Exam hall that “This exam too easy and simple abeg. UI no even hard self.” We started shading the answers we studied in the Practice questions just reading the questions. Most of us didn't read the instruction/s.

When the exam was done, many of my padi's were making mouth, some who brought their fathers or mothers, started making mouth “Dad, Mom, the exam was too simple. They repeated same questions they gave us as practice questions. I'm sure I will get 90...” Another, “I killed the exam.” Blah blah blah lines like that.

Me I just frowned face telling them the exam was too hard and all, they started looking at me “which kind olodo be this, even with the way dey repeat questions, you couldn't still give their exams back.”

But when we started to review the questions asked, someone said “Did you notice they changed the instructions, and put Antonyms in the questions they asked Synonyms on in the practice question and vice versa.”

They were not smart but only intelligent. When results came out, they were the ones who said UI gave them 20/100 or 36/100 or 50/100.

Lesson

1. Read instructions no matter your enthusiasm. They might just change Synonyms to questions that had Antonyms in the Practice question in the Post-UTME (as done in 2015)

2. UI is not looking for just how intelligent you are, but also how smart. You have to be smart also to pass UI Post-UTME alongside your being intelligent.

3. Be calm and composed. 4 answers might look all the same but one might carry a different spelling or different sentence construction. Do not think it's typographical error. No, it's not. There is a correct answer you just didn't take time to pick while in a hurry. This goes to all Subjects you are taking.

4. Do not waste time on a question. Skip to the next one. If you're offering Maths and Physics or Chemistry. Do Use-of-English first, then move to the next easy Subject for you. As it is known, no calculator is allowed. For those complaining why so? Why so, 1 person scored 90/100 for MBBS in 2014 and why so, 5 others had 88/100. They never had calculators. Why so, even Tech or Elect/Elect guys made the scholarship list in 2015 without calculators. It's all based on being resourceful. Manage your time and start solving without calculator as you prepare. And give yourself at least 30minutes less than UI would give on the D-day. That way, you won't get disappointed.

Would drop further tips as they come to mind.

Like I stated earlier, if you are coming in for Law or you'll be taking Literature in post-UTME and you want to score above the cut-off. Just look at the text UI used in the Literature Practice Questions. If you have text like:

Romeo and Juliet.
Old man and the Medal,
Nineteen Eighty-four (1984) ETC.

Just go and get 2010 Mastery-of-Literature. Cause UI does not follow any WAEC or JAMB Literature syllabus. They have consistently set questions on 2010 syllabus and I've written 3 of those Post-UTME to know this as a fact.

Except you see a different set of text in the Literature Practice questions different from those above. Then you can disregard this message.

Nevertheless, study your current syllabus alongside that which I've stated, to be in a better position in case of any unforeseen circumstance/s.

of course..there is.
I heard that the Negative marking is in terms of Shading an answer when there is no right answer among the listed questions. I remember, jamb also did the samething. And apart from that, I get to know that there are strict markings for competitive course.

I shouldn't be telling you this because not everyone believe it...

Is that what you call negative marking? Why should a smart student shade an answer when there is no answer? You know pass the people wey set question? And stop spreading what you have no idea of.

And it be told, computer mark these scripts. For those who have knowledge of computer. They already process the answer or instructions/command the computer should execute. Will a computer which had been processed to score a blank answer in Question 5 mark you right when you shade D in same Question 5?

Wa-la cool today, I helped some persons complete the registration{don't even know why I'm so happy about it,don't know if it's because they were mostly females} never the less I have got a question to ask. please ehn! What is the subject combination for agricultural Economics ? Biko! This one urgent

Also can I just add

I think It is much easier and convenient doing payment with your ATM cards compare to going to the bank. As some banks will end up delaying and wasting your precious time (although,I noticed that some bank's ATM cards ain't that friendly also to saanapay that is why it looks frustrating ) I suggest you use Access, union or GT ATM cards. Even if you don't have, you can use a friend's...just make sure to use your name and email were necessary as the payer of the form .my little contribution
