A man has died after police reportedly found him eating the corpse of a woman he had beheaded.
Officers shot Aphiwe Mapekula, 23, in the arm, leg and stomach after bursting into his home in Mount Frere, South Africa, as he was cannibalising his victim on September 9.

Police say the victim was a woman called Thembisa Masumpa, 35, who was known to Mapekula. He allegedly beheaded her after a family argume
Local media reports that he ignored officers’ warning shots that were fired in order to stop him. When he charged at the police with a knife, they opened fire on him.

Mapekula was rushed to Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital, where he attacked a female medic just minutes after he was admitted. He died three days later on September 12.
The cannibal’s mother was the one who first raised the alarm after seeing her son attack Masumpa as she was leaving the house.
‘I never raised a son like this,’ she told The Daily Dispatch. ‘I never imagined this.’

Neighbours claim that Masumpa worked at the family’s home doing odd jobs, and that she was apparently doing some washing in the back garden when Mapekula attacked her.
They also claim that Mapekula had a history of drug addiction, which had forced him to drop out of university.
Police spokeswoman Captain Edith Mjoko said: ‘He killed her with a knife by cutting her throat. When the mother of the suspect saw what was happening she rushed and called the police to the scene.
‘When they arrived the suspect was busy eating the flesh of the deceased.
‘Police ordered him to stop and hand himself over. He went beserk and stormed at them with the knife. Several warning shots were fired to deter him, but in vain.’
Sizwe Kupelo, a local health department spokesman, told Herald Live last week: ‘He was admitted on Saturday after he was transferred from Madzikane KaZulu Hospital in KwaBhaca with gunshot wounds and needed emergency surgery.
‘He unfortunately died in the early hours of this morning at about 4.35am.’

they should have killed him, they should have just took him to prison to decrease the population of prisoners duh!
