The General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Wale Musa, was on Radio this morning to talk about the traffic gridlock experienced in Apapa, Lagos and other adjourning roads in the state. According to him, the agency cannot enforce or regulate the manner in which tanker drivers, the major cause of the gridlock, park on the road because officers of the agency are not armed. Are road safety official armed, but they enforce traffic laws on motorists to a large extent. So they need arms for what , so that they can shoot innocent driver who refuse to give bribe abi. I know their plan they need more bribe  1 Like |

So, if LASTMA approaches a court and secures an order of arrest and detention/confiscation on the driver or company which owns an erring truck which will then be enforced by the Police, it will kill them? I don't blame them sha, we now have a military regime and Nigerians are still remotely under the spell of the actual military regimes of the 90's so it's easy to fall back into 'old habits'. It's all about some strong man rather than institutions. |
