you know exactly what he's trying to say and it's a fact. an assist doesn't automatically translate into a deliberate attempt to create for someone or an ingenious through ball from the midfield or wings. it could just be a short diagonal pass or a failed attempt at having a shot on goal. much of ronaldo's assists are in 'inadvertently mode'
