The first Nigerian professor of mathematics is professor Adegoke olubunmo from ekiti,even though chike obi was tthe first to have a PhD in mathematics.

This is a perfect example of my previous submission as to why PhD is a better yard to measure than professorship...

again it goes to show the devastating effect of the civil war...Chike obi had his PhD earlier but couldn't have his professorship quick enough which is what many igbos of his generation suffered. by the time the war had ended, many yorubas who were in the west which suffered no war were moving ahead with their academic pursuit while the likes chike was stunted by the war and when the war ended, they have been emasculated financially, socially and politically to continue from where they were before the war with all manner of discrimination.

many may have even dropped out of school to go into other businesses to survive while some had died during the war

In ur list schools like esut and ABSU have zero professors.
