Let me first state the fact. Some people say tithing is of the Law and as christian they are not under the Law and should not pay tithe. Others say that tithing preceded the Law; that it was practiced by Abraham who was born and lived before the Law. Some others teach that Jesus Jesus did not preach about it; He considered it a little matter and also condemned a man that was basing his righteousness on his paying his tithes of all. My Position on this debate is ...(1)Tithing is beyond the Law; it is a practice that people do ever before God spoke about it. As such it can still be practice freely by christian. (2) Christians are not required to pay tithes. (3). There is still a blessing for paying tithe now as there has always been. (4) It is very wise and smart to pay tithe now. (5)People that are christian and refuse to pay tithe should learn to give gifts or make donations to be blessed. (4) It is not a curse to not pay tithe now, but it is a blessing to pay. The choice is yours. If you refuse to pay your, don't let any pastor or devil intimated you for not paying. But also know that you are losing out on the blessings of tithing. I will advice you to pay your tithes and worry less about enriching your already rich pastors. Yes you can pay your tithes to the poor, fatherless, homeless, beggers. This is not the poor of your family and relations oooo. Conclusion/recommendation. Make sure you become a committed giver of a good substance of your earnings regularly and periodically to be blessed. Be a blessing to someone; give sacrificially. God blesses a cheerful giver. There is no blessing for not giving at all. Be wise. |

holybabayo:Not totally correct, 1. The blessing of God is accessed in no particular order. He shows mercy as it pleases Him. Some Nations with insignificant number of Christians are blessed beyond measure. They have not heard of tithe to begin with and most of our 'prosperity' gospel merchants will do Jail terms in places like Japan. It will be seen the same way they see Advanced Fee Fraud. 2. The sacrifice of Jesus at the cross is so complete that one does not need all manner of Legalism to please God and curry his blessings. 3. Cheerful Offerings and Charity works are summarily the financial involvements of Christianity. It is not Legal and not fixed to any %. 4. What gospel merchants ask people to do today in the name of tithe does not comform to any of the forms practiced by Abraham and his descendants. |

At the end of the discussion I did conclude that tithe is not compulsory. But I also stated that there is a blessing in paying tithe. I also said there is no blessing in not paying tithe. In conclusion I said everyone should pay something whether tithes or donations or offerings or gifts. It is in giving that there is a blessing. About the sacrifice on the cross guaranteeing blessings for all believers. There are questions to be answered. How real is that? Why is it that not all Christians are rich, not even in the days of the Apostles? Did Paul teach about giving as a way to prosperity after the cross? These are real issues to settle this matter. |
