The only plausible reason why Nigeria went for the F-7 is that a lot of the egg-heads in govt were bribed with kick-backs by the chinese..
And given the fact that the F-7 is much much cheaper to provide enough free money to spare, and with no real international enemies for Nigeria as at then, I can see why corrupt military administrators would go for an F-7

The F-7 was meant to be a stop gap measure. A stop gap that's lasted more than a decade. We finally want to replace those MiG-21 clones, we are spending a ridiculous amount of money by an inferior aircraft in every sense. Slow, noisy, zero structural armour. India cannot produce a fully functioning fighter as of yet. It requires a fully functioning aeronautic industrial ecosystem which is no small thing.
Even the Pakistani JF-17 is mostly Chinese.
The indians are very close though. They have made technology transfer deals worth billions of dollars with countries like Russia, Sweden, france and even the US.
I wish Nigerian leaders had half their patriotism and vision.

Styer sub machine gun used by the allies in World War 2 was produced by a civilian in his kitchen.

He submitted this gun to the British Ministry of Defense who asked him to reduce the number of parts from 67 of which he successfully reduced it to about 40+.


The gun was taken to a toy factory where the owner of the factory helped to further reduce the parts to help save cost and improve efficiency.


Also in the production of the first British Jet engine, it was achieved by a civilian.


Why am I bringing up this story.?

That talented civilians have a role to play in upgrading a nation's defense capabilities.

All a nation needs to do, is to tell anyone including the civilian population to submit any military technology for financial reward and further investment.

It is a shame that Nigeria has no military technological show where every new military technology is showcased to see the best & useful ones to pick.


The money the military is spending on vaccination, should better be spent on supporting new military technologies developed by both military & civilian class of the society.

Do you know why the Japanese fare badly in weapons during the Second World War.? They neglected their civilian class.


Do you know why the Germans did well in weapons during WW2.? They encouraged the civilian class
