One of the major culture shocks I've experienced here is the drug addiction "culture". Relative to the sheer mass of the USA, my sample size is quite small. But I must say, substance addiction is a MAJOR issue here. I've been working (and conversing) with different persons at my jobs for like 6 months (or thereabouts). I've only come across two people who don't do drugs. One of them was a pre-med student at UIC, the other was pregnant and she has just enough sense to stay off pills for the duration of her pregnancy, she picked up where she left off as soon as she gave birth though. I once worked with one lady who admitted to popping pills and getting high every single day, "you know that's addiction, right?" I asked, her reply shocked me. She said "I'm here for a good time, not a long time." shocked

Na there I realize say my IUO and Uniport boys dey learn work grin

Most times, at my burger king job, it looks like I'm the odd one out simply because I dont do drugs. I don't care though, I no come USA to pop pills.

Honestly, I haven't encountered any open, knife-weilding, "go back to your country" racists. But I noticed racism is not just about skin color, cos some of the blacks (akatas) I come in contact with, most times feel "superior" to Africans initially. But after a few conversations, them go humble. in the real sense, we no be mate, their level no reach.

how often do you see trans?
Paddy, they're plenty over here. You just have to be extra careful when fishing.

Do blacks and whites still have their separate churches[blacks were killed in a church in SC a year or two ago by a white jerk
It's kinda complicated bro. I don't go to church that often, but the few times I've gone, I opt for a Catholic church close to my house. I haven't noticed any skin color issues in church so far cos both blacks and whites attend the church. As for the killings, guy, guns are everywhere. That's another issue in the usa, guns.

Aren't there substance usage control agencies like the police, ?sars or ?ndlea over there?
There are bro, but wherever there's a seller, there's a buyer wink

Lastly, what's the difference btw the price of their food[?a plate] and 9ja food [?a plate] at a restaurant over there?
From what I've noticed, most of the major fast food enterprises serve burgers, sandwiches french fries and light stuff like that. The prices vary from outlet to outlet.

I haven't quite eaten at a nigerian restaurant yet, but from what I've heard so far, the price of the food would tear holes in your pocket.
