If all politicians can be like this, invest in the country.
Just like Atiku I admire Afe Babalola. Both might have embezzled funds but they reinvested it into the system.
Not like other adamu that will just bury it, lock it up in a house, or buy empty houses in Dubai.

There is no mediocrity in this. In actual sense this is a light year ahead of what our public teaching hospitals have on offer. At least leave your myopic partisan bigotry aside and appreciate a Nigerian like you who is changing the face of the Country. Am sure you haven't offered this country any tangible thing yet!
I speak from a professional stand point. Stop being an asshole. If you need more details regarding my observation, I am willing to give them to you.
If tomorrow you develop erythemia or possibly cancer after over radiation, you will blame your ancestors.

What a shame. Can u ever praise people for their good deeds? I pity Nigeria. People with your kind of mindset full Nigeria. May God help us
Sorry, but you must leave sentiments out of this. We are talking about radiation safety here.

Nice one. Hope it'll be cheap so its purpose (learning) will not be defeated. What's the purpose of a teaching hospital if there are no patients to clerk?
You have A throbbing headache..
Re: Inside Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital (Photos) by Chartey(m): 11:45pm On Oct 20, 2017
The problem here now is this. How will students clerk a patient who pays heavy money in this kind of facility. It may end up being a nice high-end hospital but not likely going to be a good teaching hospital.
Re: Inside Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital (Photos) by shoboy9: 12:40am On Oct 21, 2017
This doesn't look too good. The basis of learning and research is numbers. If the patients are too few or general public cannot afford their services, it will not be able to fulfil the function of a teaching hospital. It will lose focus and die off.

I pray so too but considering it is private I am sure the owners would not let it rot away. Unlike govt's property which is no man's property.

I am just excited about the fact that this is a 7 ur old university. Even UCH doctors where astounded when they came over!

I hope it lasts too. I know Afe Babalola is an excellent business manager, buh I'm afraid cos of d location. Ekiti state is a state of farmers & salary earners wu may not be able 2 afford d cost of service befitting d edifice I'm seeing here & I wanna bliv this is not jst a "philanthropic gesture" buh dat wt some degree of business mindset though wt hospitality in view. If it were 2 be in Lag or Abj I wudn't bother, esp considering d pedigree & hx of d founder.

@Olalekanbanky1, I tagged u along cos u seem to be frm d parent institution & may, therefore, be better informed on this.

Omo see photocopy machine yeeh oooo. dem giant like big cow. this man won start printing business again. wetin he no go do sef........ kidding.... that's nice to have good medical equipments and facilities around us. Instead of traveling abroad for less serious medical issue we can try our own facilities.
This is exactly my point. There is no need for those elephant size "photocopy" machines. Those are CR equipment with more radiation does. People are getting rid of those for DR. In fact health insurance companies have greatly reduced the amount payable when images are taken with CR. This is in a bid to reduce how much radiation patients are exposed to. I will update with the picture of a detector which has long replaced these antiquated machines. How would people feel if they go in for a chest xray for something as simple as cough but few months down the line, they are diagnosed of cancer or some DNA mutation?

It was commissioned today the 20th, Of Oct 2017, it proves to be one of the best private university teaching hospitals so far.
Congratulations to Aare for this milestone. If it were to be government owned this would have turned to white elephant project .
Re: Inside Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital (Photos) by dabeto: 3:49am On Oct 21, 2017
I remembered the much celebrated Akwa Ibom hospital built by Akpabio and why it was shut down. The hospital management said because the poor who patronizes this hospital could not pay for the bill, government was subsidizing it heavily.
On why PMB and the rich don't use hospitals in Nigeria at least the few that are equipped, the Minister for health responded that these set people need their privacy.
If you factor none patronage by those who should do so to sustain the hospital, your guess is as good as mine concerning the future of this hospital. Is Afe ready and willing to subsidize treatment for the poor?
This attitude cuts across every facet of our life.
We have to change the way we do things to build our nation.

With all sense of responsibility I must say that at this point, Mr. President's file should be transferred from London (whatever) hospital to our own very own Naija care giving center.

And no more begging for 10 Million for a treatment of 4 Million actual treatment just because of visas, flight tickets and logistics including having to also transport the kidney donor.
file kwa, is he in court? folder jor. buhari is a bigot

I don't understand your candid reason for your supposed "professional" downplay. There is nothing even professional with your reservations and how you even express them. I doubt you can mention one Federal University Teaching hospital that has this arsenal. Simply appreciate this. It won't kill.

You won't understand. If only you can see what I am seeing. One example, if the vacuum tube in the CR breaks, which is a common occurrence in this set up, where will they get a replacement.
Remember, that machine is more than 15years and manufacturers are no longer producing the parts, that I know. How on earth do they intend to keep up without protracted down time?

Even India with some of the best medical facilities isn't cheap

There is nothing there. Few xray machine and CT scanner. The worst public university teaching hospital in nigeria is better than this. They still need much more catching up to do.
Lmao, you are oblivious to the fact that a lot of wealthy people in Nigeria even prefer private hospitals.

Most of the government owned hospitals are below standard.

Enter UPTH

The medical students will understand. Indian medical facilities are cheap and they are not so different from Nigeria in terms of quality, they are far from the best

What Nigeria need is technological revolution not importing equipments we can't repair or maintain after some years of installation.

Once Nigeria is able to develop her own indigenous technology, every of our problem will be solved; be it agriculture, health, bad roads, etc.

Private universities in Nigeria should focus on technological/engineering development and research so they can produce the generation of Nigerian youths that will liberate Nigeria from technological dependence on Europe/America/China.

We need the type of technological revolution in China that changed China's fortune for good.

All these importation of finished equipments from abroad can't take us anywhere.
We have to start from some where

That I used the term "throbbing" should tell you I understand what you were trying to say..

C'mon the hospital will start admitting soon. They will also liaise with nearby hospitals to get referrals and thereafter, there will be patients to clerk and present. Rome was not built In a day.

Now for your punishment, characterise your headache using SOCRATES grin

Ode so doctors is the one that should be building technology abi. Your suggestion is a good example of right peg in a wrong hole.
lol, my point is...our private universities should focus more on technological research and engineering revolution by building research centers, engineering centers and funding youth research and invention moves instead of using scarce resources to be importing foreign medical equipments that we can't repair or maintain after some years of installation.

Technology and engineering revolution is what our universities; private and government, including our government should focus on now not on any other thing that will still keep us dependent on foreign technologies.

Nigeria need her own technology....no matter how crude it is...we need to get started....we need to start developing our own military equipments, construction equipments, hospital equipments, agricultural equipments.... We can't keep postponing this.....we must start now! That's my point ok
